As expected, you didnt bother to read anything i tried to convey. We do not have the technology to switch over to only renewables. Nuclear is not the end-all solution. You're no different than the ideologues who think things like cap and trade are a solution. You're just clamping your ears and screaming "no more O&G" when you're simply ignoring the impact it would have on society across the board.

No change comes without some kind of impact. You can't keep taking steps forward without taking a step backward. The point isn't to ensure a seamless transition when calamity has been creeping up to our doorstep and is almost at never turn back levels. But the tools and knowledge are in place to start the immediate transition. People will have to scale back their pointless lifestyles for a while, or drop their selfishness and use new public transport - nothing wrong with that.

Why don't you want to accept this? You seem to be comfortable stepping off a cliff as long as you are comfortable while falling. Don't be scared to see the truth because of your profession.

yes, those liberal elitists working over at exxon.

    https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/exxon-knew-about-climate-change-almost-40-years-ago/

also the fact that you think anyone would lie about wanting to save the environment is astoundingly conspiratorial.

It really doesn't matter. Not all liberals do the same thing. What matters is money and what you spend it on.

So could you answer the questions about your car, a/c and meat eating habits? Before you vote to enact change, have you enacted any of your own?

Liberals can easily campaign financially against the NRA, but don't do it. Same with climate change, it's easier to be preachy without changing your own habits.

What you're asking for is civil unrest, high unemployment, massive inflation all which will inevitably lead to war. All because you're 'deeming' something you really have no idea what you're talking about.

There is no point in cutting back in lifestyle if our population continues to grow exponentially.

Oh cool.... yes let me give you every aspect of my daily life so you can poke holes at it to call me a hypocrite. Sounds like a plan.

I do what I can, and what I can afford to do. Here in TX we do have options that get looked over all the time, and I take those options when they are available... such as renewable clean energy via my electric provider, using our Hybrid Civic for travel when we are going longer distances (although my wife is trying to talk me into a Mini Cooper), and switching to an E-Go lawnmower. I try to do things like that to "hit them in the pocket book" as a consumer as much as I can.

But those little changes aren't going to curb the devastation enough unless, like with the space program post WW2, there is a push at the highest levels to take more drastic steps. The Paris Accord, is really small potatoes here as well. There needs to be massive engineering efforts, and higher intuition..... not exactly the opposite.... which is propagating ignorance like the crap Trump spews out along with his media arm that pump out millions of Bobby's and TJ's turning around and pointing fingers at me & my George Soros checks I get in the mail.

When Kennedy said we needed to go to Space before the Communists, half of the country didn't point at the other half and say they are brainwashed paid protester hypocrites. There was a general consensus that yeah.... kind of the smart thing to be trying to engineer.

Why in the world have Americans become inherently inhumane morons? This is not a partisan issue. And shouldn't be since you'd think most people here are from Houston, or have some connection to Houston... one of the cities poised to bare a large brunt of the impact of climate change over the next few decades.

Seriously.... I'll just emphasize that last point again. You cannot tell me that the country who led manned missions to the moon & back cannot figure out a way to engineer effective ways to pull CO2 from the atmosphere on a large scale.

If Trump started a program (call it "Climate Force" or whatever) to fund engineering efforts to find a real solution for pulling carbon out of the atmosphere, I might even vote for him in 2020.

I got a 2017 sedan that gets +50 MPG and I eat meat 3 times a week. I cut the meat more for health reasons, lost weight and able to keep it off.

I just wanted to make sure there’s nothing left to debate about climate change except for making sure liberals are environmental enough.

Frankly there is no need to make drastic changes. Taxing pollution would be the easiest option so the prices things more accurately reflect their true costs.

huh? how is taxing going to reduce anything? Do you really want these taxes to go fund more wars? Because they surely arenot going to go to anything useful.

Well if you raise taxes enough it'll grind the economy to a halt which means fewer emissions. Crippling the economy and causing massive human suffering is pretty much the goal of the AGW religion.

No one is going to touch the science of this here because they aren't qualified to do so.

At some point though people need to STFU and listen to scientists when it comes to a matter of science.

I'm waiting for the first response here to debunk the 695 page report made by scientists...

I don't even know what my way is so, I'm not sure how you know it's the wrong way.

All I know is we have to do something serious. As for how, that's up to people that are much smarter to figure it out. If you leave this to individuals to become enlighten on either the danger of their daily routines, or how they are part of a very interdependent system (you know, treat mother nature as something that your livelihood is dependent upon) to drive significant changes at the individual level - see you at human 2.0. Not that we shouldn't do that - we should, but that alone isn't going to come close to solving climate change.

Well when pollution isnt subsidized and instead the costs are part of the price then consumers will change their behavior.

Renewables are subsidized too. Whats your point?

And as I explained, with the exponential growth of population on this planet, changing habits is pretty meaningless.

We need clean energy. You dont get that by taxing. Taxing is not the solution to every problem in the world.

You just triggered every single one of our friends on the left. The belief that taxes are the solution to every problem in the world is just about the only thing they believe in.

The highest level is run by $. Your tiny steps impact that $. That's the point here - do you see me denying the grave seriousness of climate change? Of fossil fuel overconsumption, pretending like coal is alright, that the way Americans live in 2018 is sustainable? It's not - period.

You need wide scale government projects to put mass transit in place, transition from O&G to nuclear, wind, solar etc, rid the younger generations of entitlement and chip away at the outdated cash cows that feed the 0.01%. This isn't something you can sit back and hope an individual invents a way out of. But to get a guy to campaign for that, you need to put your $ towards the right cause. Don't forget, capitalism.

At the same time, I know how it's all about $ at the highest levels of politics. Not doing the right thing, not science, it's purely economical. So yeah, I'd like to see the end of the O&G era in ways most Texans wouldn't (it will still be around for aviation, large tankers, certain plastics etc.), but that requires a cultural change. As a partisan it annoys me when liberals selectively preach while their actions are hypocritical, have too many kids, drive 15 mpg trucks/SUVS/luury cars, it all adds up. When you look at the hard data you can see that consumption and overpopulation aren't less for those identifying as democrat.

Conservatives will follow the $ - always keep that in mind before preaching about ideals. It's a transition period those with comfortable lifestyles don't want to deal with... that's the biggest issue here. Not believing in the science, trust me they all know it-- as someone who has dealt with everyone.

Oh great, it's the shill the O&G industry sends out to cause the masses to think change is chaos! Calamity! War! Not like the War on Iraq and Afghanistan for more oil! We know your game, people aren't as ignorant as they were decades ago and if that's how you want to play you're going down sooner rather than later.

There's not going to be unemployment when you consider the large amount of labor, engineering, production and manufacturing needed to undergo these changes. The only civil unrest when humans work towards the right answers is Mr. Space Ghost's little salary taking a hit! His area of expertise is no longer needed and outdated. And I'll be the guy pushing policies in states that matter. You're done and dusted, but the good news is your kids will be fine with me in charge.

This sort of prognostication and doomsaying is just as bad as the most fervent of environmentalists proclaiming we're already done for
