I thought Luther bulked up in the offseason to prevent bigger guards from posting him up, but he still seemed helpless against Brandon Roy.
I'm not big on second units. It is best to keep at least 2 (if not 3) starters on court at all times. The starting lineup for Rockets have played 51 minutes together so far. The next biggest lineup for the Rockets is T. McGrady, B. Wells, S. Battier, M. James, Yao Ming at under 8 minutes. Bench players don't come in all at once generally. It is important to have your best unit (not necessarily the best 5 players) be the starters because this is the unit that will see the court the most together. I'd probably keep Bonzi on the bench because I would like to see him post up which detracts from both TMac's and Yao's game.
The starting 5 is fine. RA always have the options to put the mentally tough ones on the court at the same time such as Scola Battier Tmac James Yao
its not just his strength thats the problem, although it is part of it. But he can only add so much bulk or his quickness will start getting effective. He is just undersized and thats something that will always be a problem for him
Starters don't matter. With the guys we have, it's more key that we settle on the correct combination to ride in the second half. Against Utah, we needed a Hayes/Scola frontcourt. Last night, we needed the offense from Yao, Scola, McGrady, Bonzi and James. We're blessed with a truly deep team. Let's take advantage of that. Evan
Notice that I didn't call my strongest FIVE the starting five, You assumed that is what I was indicating but I wasn't!! Beside the point some teams do start their best players, substitution is done while keeping most of the starters on the court.
Mutombo Scola Bonzi Luther James They have played better than the real startin' 5. And they rescued our asses 2 times in 3 games.
i think the starting 5 is where it should be. I love the weapons coming off the bench. Dang! its nice to have such depth and versatility off the bench. I forgot what it was like
Brandon Roy got a lot of his open looks from pick and rolls with Yao's man. Yao was either slow in challenging or stayed put and dared him to shoot. And though Luther Head didn't light up the box score, Head was still a +4 against the Blazers. He didn't score, but he made things happen.
does that means if we take yao or t.mac off the star line up,then they will b the 6th man of the year.. that's a good deal..
we should start scola at the C and let yao comes off the bench to turbo charge the offense. scola will be able to put up 15 points a game easily if given chance and t-mac will be free to go for 30 plus every game. wow our bench will outscore almost every team's bench by at least 10 pts a game.
