agree with madmax. Disappointed at the end, of course, i mean whenver you get close and don't win it it sucks, but the team won a boatload of games, and finally beat those Seattle Illegal defense playing mother-f'rs. Overall that was a pretty good season.

This rockets season looks like it won't even get close to that, so in terms of matching preseason expectations it is far worse.

Why do some fans act like we changed the roster?

    We added to the bench.

We added Bonzi, Scola, Brooks, James and Francis

The starting lineup this season is the same as last season.

    We improved the bench, RIGHT?

The truth is we are a much less consistent team than last year and the only difference is we changed the entire coaching staff while upgrading the roster.

Nobody wanted to trade TMac when he carried the team last season while Yao was injured.

Nobody wanted to blow up the team until somehow we got the impression that the team was better than Utah when we were fairly even and we couldn't match up with Boozer and Williams.

So just because one of our best players is hurt and the team is playing like **** right now... we can't make the playoffs? Is the season over next week or something? Or even next month? There is plenty of time, I don't see why everyone is so dramatic when the team sucks.

More of the same tonight. So close, but so far in the end. I just am having a hard time seeing the silver lining this year. Nothing we are building to and nothing that indicates a turnaround. Sure would like to be wrong, but don't think I will be. Here's to hoping I am.

Yeah, definitely one of the most disappointing seasons of all time. So much talent, so much hype, then the 6-1 start. McGrady goes down, everybody having career worst seasons, inconsistency, no effort, energy, and inability to close out games and losses to some real bad teams (Miami, Philadelphia and a few more).

I agree with some of the previous posts that it is way too early to be deciding if it is a disappointment.

To answer the OP, it really depends what were your expectations to begin with and how realistic they were. To be honest, I was expecting an exit in the 2nd round of the playoffs or WCF if the chemistry was good by the end of the year.

HOWEVER, I knew that we would not be a truly good team until after the All-Star break, if at all. We brought in a new coach and a whole new system. It takes time to implement that. The hot start gave me some false hope that we would be dangerous from the start, but that's fizzled out.

I think everyone should just take a deep breath and relax. If things turn sour in the second half of the season, then we can talk about rebuilding.

We aren't on the team, we are fans. We have the right to speculate and to be impatient. It's a no-brainer that the season will have been one of the most disappointing seasons ever if we do flame out. I am asking what posters thoughts are now.

It was the most dsiappointing season to date at the time. They have dug themselves out of a big hole with an unbeliveable run and I am very proud of them and frankly a little suprised. That doesn't change the validty of the OP taken in context. For a team with Yao and Mac (even with injuries) to be 2 games under .500 32 gamnes into a season just is no longer acceptable to me - sorry.

Seriously dada, couldn't you dig up the post where I predicted we'd be 10 games over .500 before the all-star break???

I think you forget the year we signed Stromile and he was supposed to be the final piece to top that 51 win team that lost to Dallas the year before. T-Mac and Yao were hurt all year and we didn't even sniff the playoffs. The possibilities are still wide open this year and some (not all) of the disappointment can be explained by coaching change, new players, etc. So, at this point there is still way too much season to go and things are looking up. The Stromile Swift season was virtually over already by this point. And the expectations were high going in.

Too many people were pulling a Houston Chronicle and putting the RIP gravestone over this team.

Long season....new coach, new players.......WAY to early to bury them.

And, they are onlly getting better.
