A wonderful story from the Miami Herald detailing how a few officers "served and protected" this past memorial day.
People don't want cameras catching them do bad things but they're fine with filming authority doing bad things. I'm for cameras in the sake of truthiness.
People don't want camera's because its none of the governments business what I do in my private life. People want cameras on cops because their job is not private, they are public servants. Is it really that hard to understand.
people actually think law enforcement/the police are a detriment to our society? i wonder what they think about prostitution, rape, theft, drug trafficking, fraud, murder.
Yeah good thing we have police in this country so we don't have to deal with those things. Are you 12?
I don't think anyone is saying law enforcement is a detriment to our society. They are saying corrupt, abusive, and criminal law enforcement is a detriment to our society. Do you disagree?
First of all, I avoid cops as much as possible, it's hard to tell the good ones from the bad ones. Now, as far as cameras go, I like the cameras. I like red light cameras, I like security cameras, I wish we had a lot more cameras. I wish all streets had surveillance cameras so we can see who breaks into cars, and who kidnaps children. I don't think cameras should be used to spy on someone inside their home, but I keep my drapes closed so people can't see me anyway. I trust a camera much more than I trust the police.
The UK has a bazillion security cameras and they haven't been proven to significantly reduce crime, they just give people a false sense of security. Increased street lighting gave better results then cameras.
Really, that's interesting. I still wish my street had a surveillance camera, and some really bright lights also.
They may not reduce crime but when you're a victim of a crime, everyone wishes there was one to prove their innocence. For instance, a security camera helped here: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=205240
Considering the thread is titled "Most cops are good" (even if sarcastic) should be pretty clear. If you don't get the idea of this thread read this http://www.kgun9.com/story/14742791/video-documents-answer-questions-about-swat-raid
How do you make sure that cameras meant to see what cops are doing aren't also used to keep tabs on everyone else? I mean if you put cameras all over the place to track cops then those can also be used to track other people.
There is corruption everywhere. In the police force, hospital, law courts, etc. You can't remove it, so why b**** about it. The only way you can remove corruption and abuse of power is to eliminate the whole entity, which would be a bad idea. Do you disagree?
