Another player that shouldnt be overlooked for playing for a crappy team is the cavs andre miller. He can do it all, except block shots really.
Too bad Grant Hill is having injury issues, or else he could easily be considered one of the best all around players.
Yeah, and Kobe shoots 27% from 3-point range, which is very bad. Whereas 3 assists for a shooting guard is not that bad. So is Kobe not a complete player because he can't shoot 3's? No, he's still considered an all-around player.
That's because Kobe is still an excellent outside shooter, regardless of his FG% on 3-pointers. (Jordan in only 32.8% for his career on 3-pointers, and that figure is boosted by the couple of years when they moved the line in. Still, I think most people perceive him as a rather complete player. ) 3.1 assists/game, though, is below average for a starting SG, while Kobe and TMac are in the top 3 (with Iverson) -- and the difference is magnified further when you notice that Pierce has more turnovers than Kobe and TMac as well. And Pierce isn't that great of a defender, either. So I'd have to go with those two over Pierce ... and for the moment, McGrady over Bryant, though it's close enough that you'd probably have to check back with me on a month-to-month basis.
Were those 2 blocks against the man he was guarding? Probably not. Is he a great defender because he intercepted passes? Probably not. If you go by that theory, then I guess Kenny Thomas and Steve Francis are defensive stoppers, because they often times get 2+ steals in a game.
If you want to fool yourself into thinking that Pierce is better than Kobe or T-Mac because of stats, then go right ahead.
Shaquille O'Neal deserves some love - he's dominant on both ends of the court, thats complete enough for me. So is Duncan. So are Pierce, McGrady and Kobe.
Who ever said Walker is more all around that Pierce must not have the NBA League Pass. My vote goes for Tmac. -6' 8"- 6' 9" -has the arm length of a center. -very solid low post game....whether it be passing or scoring -can score from anywhere -can defend practically any position except the and actually plays defense 5. -just as explosive as the other "super stars", if not more After Tmac, I say Kobe, then Pierce. And it really isn't fair to go by stats because of each player's situation on a particular team, especially with the 3 I mentioned because their numbers are pretty similar. Just because you get 2 steals a game doesn't mean you're a better defender than someone that plays consistent position defense. Tmac 38. 1 Mpg 25.4 Ppg 7.7 Rpg 5.3 Apg 1.6 Stl/per game 44.7 FG% Pierce 40.5 Mpg 26.2 Ppg 6.9 Rpg 3.1 Apg 1.82 Stl/per game 43.7 FG% Kobe 38.3 Mpg 25.5 Ppg 5.5 Rpg 5.6 Apg 1.53 Stl/per game 47.3 FG%
Exactly, I think Kobe and T-Mac are the top 2, but Pierce is probably next. And to compare Walker with Pierce as far as being equal or better to Pierce in anything other than the spot up 3 (as a complete player, great player, etc.) is a joke--Pierce is a light years better player and more complete player. Abdur-Rahim is probably more complete than Walker--he doesn't have his range but is certainly more complete in other respects. Neither is as good or complete as Dirk, though none of the three are steller defenders. Also, just because a player is more complete doesn't mean he is better. AI is probably better than Pierce despite Pierce contributing in more phases. Shaq and Duncan are not "complete" by the threads definition but are the best 2 players in the NBA.
