He had spinal fusion sugery. I just think there's a big risk he won't be able to bounce back right away. I voted Ben Tate. He has good size and speed.
I think Slaton will come back strong, but Tate was drafted for a reason. I expect him to be the first option with Steve changing the pace. Anyway it goes, I hope we can finally be successful at consistently running the ball. At least Chris Brown isn't in the mix. That right there has me hopeful.
I still don't think logic is something Kubiak relies on to make coaching decisions. I think it could be something like Seattle's situation (Jones v. Forsett) last year but with a less glaring difference between our options. Like how Chris Brown got too many looks this year, I think Foster or Slaton will get the brunt of the carries but whoever starts will probably be outperformed by the 2nd and 3rd string guys. I don't think they'll be using Slaton catching out of the backfield as much since they found out that Andre Johnson can be just as explosive on his "step back and catch" plays.
i said slaton just because i will give him the benefit of the doubt and I'm sure he will get his touches early. Whether or not he will continue to get those touches is another story. But i suspect that either tate or foster will be right on his heels. Tate because they invested a lot into him. Foster because the guy showed some flashes last year and has earned a shot.
I think it's Foster starting off the year, kind of his to lose. If he continues being productive, he'll stay the main guy. But I can see him dropping the ball for a sudden turnaround for another player, either Tate or Slayton.
Just thinking about it is driving me nuts. This time of year is sooooo rough. Sooo close....yet soooo far. Damn I miss football.
