You can only control what one car does on the road and that's your own. In the end when you have or cause a wreck, it won't make you feel a whole lot better to know you were right.
From http://www.dot.state.tx.us/safety/tips/highway_driving.htm I really don't care to be in the left lane. I'm a middle lane kind of guy on the freeway. But what bugs me are those who don't pass after getting on that lane and just stay there, thinking that it's a "fast lane".
well, if their right lane is occupied by folks going slower than then, then they have a right to stay in that lane no one really expects a person to pass then yield right, pass then yield right, pass then yield right
I don't see anything wrong if you intend to pass all those drivers within a few seconds maximum being a minute but at least be courteous enough to move over once you've finished passing.
Tailgaters, I hate them. I will usually drive slower if I see someone tailgating me if I can afford to.
when you're driving the right speed limit and they are tailgating your arse like you are driving too slow, you then speed up and get pulled over by the po'po's if you dont speed up, you get one of those disgusting stare as they drive by and pass you up... I hate my life
If you're referring to the fast lane comment, I guess I was eventually trying to get on the side of the argument where you shouldn't speed in the left lane (but I know sometimes you just gotta go with the flow of traffic).
me being courteous for whom? if i'm in the need to pass people on the road, i'd be one of the fastest on the road already, no need to stray away from the passing lane unless someone faster comes along and tailgates me
There is one thing that annoys me more than anything else and it seems to happen all the f'ing time!!! Those idiots who decide to, not only turn onto the road RIGHT in front of you from a side street, median or parking lot, but do it in your lane regardless of how much or non-traffic there is around. And they ALWAYS do it at just the right time to force you to have to drastically slow down to stop from hitting them. Doesn't help either that AT LEAST 60%+ of those times, all they had to do it wait 5 seconds to let me pass because of the complete lack of traffic behind me. It never fails, they do all of this (acting as if they are in such a complete hurry not to wait) and THEN drive 10-15+ mph. under the speed limit. Of course, you also have the a-holes that refuse to let you cut in front of them when lanes are merging for whatever reason despite everyone else taking turns.
Yeah that's what I am saying that after you finish passing all those foes up, be it 5 or 6 cars. I mean at the end, unless you are driving 90-95, there will be someone driving faster than you and it's just best to get out of the way.
- people that drive slow in the left lane - people that drive the same exact speed in the right lane as the slow driver in the left lane so you can't pass them. I'm sorry guys but I don't think it's annoying to drive fast (esp on freeways). I weave in and out of traffic cuz I have to. It doesn't work as well on streets like Westheimer, but it still helps some. Travel time in Houston is already so ridiculous that I feel like I have no choice, but to gain advantage when I can.
26 in July. I'll let old guys like yourself wait in the long line at lights, etc... while I pass you up.
I'm young, but what do you mean by travel time in Houston is ridiculous? You sound like my wife who is always running late and when we go places together we can never stop to do anything else (like a grab a pack of gum from a gas station) because she doesn't leave enough to get to the destination. Travel times are fine, you should just leave earlier.
Houston is a big city. The Greater Houston area is massive. I don't think that I have to explain in more detail, do I ?
I never said i drive slow. Are you saying that people who want to go faster than me in the left lane are going to kill me if I don't move over? If so, there's no way in hell I'm moving over. That's right, you can only control your car. So, why don't you stop worrying about the guy driving slow in front of you in the left lane and do what you have to do to get where you're going without a wreck?
Haven't I already said that I am rarely in the left lane? I'm a cruiser on the roads, not a speeder. You can do whatever you want, but it's clear you are not a safe driver. Defensive driving FTW.
