Most accomplished? Luis Scola. Yao isn't playing and hasn't won a title... yet. Ariza was a role player on a NBA championship team that we damn near beat. Scola? Olympic gold and they went through the US to do it. Scola and Manu Ginóbili led the Argentine team to the title most valued around the world. Maybe not here, but as far as the rest of the world is concerned, the Olympic gold medal in basketball tops all. And that doesn't include the rest of Scola's international trophies. He's a winner. August 29, 2004 SUMMER 2004 GAMES Argentina Tops Italy For Basketball Gold ATHENS, Aug. 28— Luis Scola scored 25 points and Alejandro Montecchia hit two big 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to lead Argentina to an 84-69 victory over Italy in the gold-medal game Saturday night. Argentina's previous best finish in the Olympics was fourth, in 1952. Italy also appeared in a gold-medal game in 1980, when it lost to Yugoslavia. Argentina's Manu Ginóbili, who plays for the San Antonio Spurs and was the only N.B.A. player on the floor, had 16 points and 6 assists. Argentina played without the starting forward Fabricio Oberto, who broke his right arm in the semifinal victory over the United States. Scola sealed the victory with a dunk with 14 seconds left and did a chin-up on the rim as his teammates began to celebrate. Montecchia finished with 17 points. Matteo Soragna and Gianmarco Pozzecco each had 12 points for Italy. http://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/29/s...s-italy-for-basketball-gold.html?pagewanted=1
Andersen played in the Euroleague for 9 seasons, where he was a part of three Euroleague championship teams: Virtus Bologna 2001, CSKA Moscow 2006, 2008. Scola. So why are so many people locking him up as traded! Will someone please start, a do not trade, Scola thread. There are so many reasons not to trade this guy. He is much of the reason we took the lakers to 7 games. Trade him and a you take away a piece of the championship puzzle we are looking to build.
I'd go with Battier. He was National Player of the Year in college and led his team to a national title. Won a bronze medal at the world championships and he's got a degree from Duke. Beat that.
Yao is the most talented Rocket right now. Scola is the most consistent. If I had to choose one for overall, it'd be Yao. But Scola isn't far off. Good thing we have both. . Can't wait for next season - sporting a front line of: Yao - all star center Scola - iron (ice cream) man HILL - up and coming MONSTER chuckwagon - mr. defense
Scola. He's left a huge stamp on the rest of the basketball world outside the NBA and he's won numerous fiba championships and gold in 04. He even beat a team boasting a young d-wade and queen lebronze James.
Its scola. It was his journey to the NBA and how much of a success he has. I don't know why some of you guys say Yao. What accomplishment? All star? Well same goes for Tmac when he was a Rockets. Actually for the hype Yao receives, Yao really didn't accomplished anything but seasonal injuries.
I would go with scola: 2000 Spanish League Rookie of the Year 2000 FIBA Americas Under-20 Championship MVP 2005 Spanish Supercup MVP 2x Spanish League MVP 2005, 2007 All-Euroleague Second Team 2005 2x All-Euroleague First Team 2006, 2007 2x FIBA Americas Championship MVP 2007, 2009 2008 NBA All-Rookie First Team Plus they won the gold medal going through the US.
Hasn't achieved comparable success in the NBA. That's more important than college for sure, and even compared to being a bronze medalist in a tournament which the US was expected to win. Having a degree especially from Duke is an accomplishment, but that has nothing to do with being a successful professional basketball player.
