I told you I am old. What is the correct current jargon for doing pot so that I can add it to my morphemic lexicon?
No doubt you are right but if there aren't any really good PF's or PG's available another SG can help too because of our extremely poor outside shooting.
PG is a position we simply cannot address at 26th. The swing position is deep with players like Almond, Byars, Tucker, and Afflalo likely to be available. Adding one of those guys would also make trading Head or Snyder an easier pill to swallow. With Mutombo probably having 1yr left I wouldn't be surprised if they looked at Aaron Gray. I can't see Tsakalidis in the Rockets long term plans.
Eh he doesn't seem so impressive in the video other that his shot. I want to seem him slash to basket and make a layup. Or break his man down using a move or two. He can score but it seems like he needs a point guard for him to be effective. And it doesn't seem like he can dribble that good to get around his man. And to me that's what we needed, b/c we all know Battier, and Head could should shoot off screens but couldnt get by their man b/c of their lack of handle.
i tend to disagree. I think the pg position is being slightly overblown. iss rafer great? no, but he is very servicable as a starter. The problem was that there was no one behind him that was really effective. I do think they need to get someone though but i just think the sg aspect is being neglected. PF is a big problem of course. but ask yourself, who are the rockets sgs? Tmac? imo, he is a natural sf and thats where he is best used. luther? vspan? snyder? thats very shaky, at best. I just think that there needs to be another guard, with size, that can be a well rounded player and do a little of everything. Maybe nothing great, but a lot of things well. Not to live in the past, but a sura like player, who could play pg and also sg. decent defender, decent shooter, decent driver, etc. I just dont think that the rockets have to get a pure 'pg', in the traditional sense.
thats also a good point. you more than likely wont get a near nba ready pg at 26. jake should be in the plans...he is a decent backup. herbert hill is a guy im curious about. he is another bigger guy whos been praised for his work ethic and continuous improvement. he probably isnt 26 worthy, but thats all the more reason to pick up a second rounder somehow
PF and PG are also weaknesses of the draft. go for the guy that will contribute immediately. almond is a POLISHED scorer. sure, he can improve his handles, but every scouting report praises his work ethic and his intangibles. people knock him for being an average athlete, but so was Brandon Roy...look at how he turned out. We need a 6th man off the bench with a scorer's mentality. That is exactly what Almond is.
I know that. You know that. We all know that. But don't be surprised when someone takes a shot at him high. Tsakalidis is a better rebounder.
All Aaron Gray has going for him is his strong work ethic, a smart head on his shoulders and the fact that he's a seven footer. Other than that he's a slow, unathletic, unskilled giant with little coordination or ability to dominate a game.
it is smoked or eaten...not done... the term "do" is reserved for the harder persuasion of hallucinogens and narcotics...
Awww, I was expecting a hip, cool term for "tokes with the folks" or "weed feed." A "clinical" explanation doesn't cut it -- I don't see the difference.
you smoke weed/pine while you do crack, coke, extacy, heroin etc. the heavier drugs such as your anphetamines and barbituates are going to be the drugs that you do (well actually they do you) but i like Kaponen i think we'll trade someone to get another pick in the 1st round i just have a gut feeling.
Apparently Almond is the best shooter the Knicks have worked out, they pick #23 and Starbury wants a shooter : http://www.nypost.com/seven/0612200...ake_a_shooter_in_draft_knicks_marc_berman.htm ----------------------------------------------------------- "The best outside shooter Thomas has worked out so far in the pre-draft workouts is Rice University shooting guard Morris Almond, who's been compared to Allan Houston."
The Glen Davis vid is pretty amazing. Nice jumper, good passer, and can actually dribble pretty well. All at 310
Check out his stats from his junior season against Memphis at Autry. He lit em up putting 30 points up against overrated Rodney Carney and those Tigers in a 5 point loss. I have seen every game Morris Almond has played at Rice and I can tell you that his limitations are there and they are pronounced, however, his upside, his scoring, his mind, his intangibles are all top notch. Plus, we wont find a shooter his caliber in the draft for another 5 years. If his feet are set and he has even a smidgen of space, he is going to drain 20 footers and three pointers all day. He is a hybrid in the sense that he is a pure shooter and a scorer. Take Allan Houston, mix in a little Kevin Martin and a little Rip Hamilton. He can use both hands with tremendous confidence and he has sneaky athleticism. If you can find it, see what he did against Bryan Hopkins and SMU at Autry two seasons ago. He took off 8 feet from the basket and rose up and threw in a one handed dunk that, I kid you not, reminded me of Vince Carter. I know I am a Rice alum and I might seem a little homerish, but I tell you, he is going to be a solid NBA player for the next ten years... This is my first post on ClutchCity.net and I am honored to be here with you fine folks. It is also an honor that my first ever post references a guy I believe in vehemently. Believe It!
You being a Rice homer actually makes me take this analysis more seriously. I am honestly a little more excited about him now. But you compared him to some major names (Hamilton, Carter, Houston) in that blurb. You think he can be an all-star?
