wasn't flashy because he was too good. Got to plays way better and earlier, so there was no need for flash. I say that because I think calling him "steady" is a massive disservice to his defensive prowess (though you may not have meant the word the way it sounds)

I meant it as the ultimate compliment. I think there are far too many shortstops that are feast or famine. They'll make a barehanded play in the hole and then bobble a candy hop ground ball on the next play. With Everett, you never had to cross your fingers and hope he would make a play.
The Astros actually roved pretty well last season. They just couldn't play baseball worth a ****. This hire seems unnecessary to me.
I actually really like Morgan, as a person. Hated the changed batting stances in between every at bat. But he responds to me on Twitter so he's super cool in my book Plus, he was funny, smart and engaging when my wife and I met him at an Astros dinner once. I'd hire him because I like to hire people who are smarter than me (this is where my wife says, "and that's not real difficult to find.")
