I like this scenario better, too, if it allowed the team to keep either Brooks or Scola. For one thing, rather than introduce Yao and two new players (one a rookie) to the starting rotation all at once, it would allow the team to maintain a little continuity. I think management expect the team to compete for a title this coming year, not to simply get acquainted with each other and compete the following year. Keeping Brooks in the starting lineup, at least at the beginning, would help. I'd hate to see them lose his scoring, too. He could eventually be lethal off the bench. If they could do this trade and keep either Brooks or Scola, the Rockets could be contenders next year.
Wild card maybe back on the table.....Jefferson is the guy I wanted all along and now he can possibly be had without giving up much at all. Rubio will be a long shot but having Jefferson without giving up Scola is a HIGH probability right now.
First, the T-wolves didn't draft cousins. Second, why do you believe Jefferson can "be had without giving up much at all"?
I didnt say that drafted Cousin....He can be HAD because they are dispartely shopping him. The Wolves signed Darko already and looking to sign David Lee. They want to use Al Jefferson to bring in veteran leadership asap. A few months ago when I started this thread, the demand was a little more...now with the signing of Drako and Kahn admitting that they need to move Al increases are chances of landing him without giving up major pieces. IMO of course
No PICK!! That needs to be the rally cry. Now that the Knicks look to be shut out even with Amare, the Rockets need to hold on to those picks with death grips. I wouldn't trade those picks for anyone expect Bosh (out) Lebron (never in) or Danny Granger (maybe February) Jefferson can be had for Battier, Anderson and an expiring contract....or something other than picks
I think if you threw in Battier and Jefferies (2 expirings) and maybe 2nd Round draft picks, maybe that could get it done.
I'm in....keeping Scola and adding Al Jefferson would do my heart justice. Al Jefferson was trying regain form last year and really needed a full offseason to recover.....I'm pretty sure he will regain form by this up coming season and it would a Morey type move to take advantage of the Wolves.
You must be the real Stupid Jackson if you think the wolves would trade Jefferson for the crap your offering. (Sorry Battier but your just an aging role player) It is true the wolves want to move him but it is also true many teams are interested him. We will have to give a whole lot more than expiring contracts to get him. If you want to keep the NY picks forget about jefferson
Morey will not be trading for a player coming off a major knee surgery and has not proven he has fully recovered from it yet. Especially at what it would cost to acquire him. We resign Scola and that's that at PF. Al is not a franchise cornerstone player that Morey would be willing to trade several good players for (like he was willing to do for Bosh). C'mon people, please stop it with the 4 and 5 player trades. When has Morey ever done anything like that? Just accept it will be a realitively quiet summer for us. We have good talent on this team now. We are building it up from within. Get hyped about summer league seeing if Hill puts up good numbers, if Patterson shines, and if Taylor does well.
Stupid Jackson? really? Was that necessary? Did you not see that i also said "or something else other than picks" ?? I don't KNOW what the Rockets are willing to give up man...it's all speculation and message board talk. It's not that serious where you have to call people names that you would probably NEVER say their face if you saw them in person. Chill out.
I actually don't think it will take a king's ransom to get Jefferson. He's got a pretty big contract that Minny probably doesn't want to be stuck with and they look like they would prefer going with Love & Lee. He's got the injury history, which diminishes his value. I think he can be had, but I haven't decided for myself how well he would fit in. On the surface, a Jefferson & Yao frontcourt seems a bit redundant and slow to me, but I think it would still make us better.
