Bosh clearly fits better. A) If Yao is healthy. No question, Jefferson and Yao together would not be a good sight. B) If Yao is not healthy. Jefferson would fill the offensive void left by Yao. But Bosh could do the same too, in a different style. So, with Yao, Bosh fits perfectly. Without Yao, Bosh and Jefferson would be a wash, but Bosh would still fit Adelman's game better. And there is the injury worry too with Jefferson. His game seems to have dropped since his injury. If we worry about Yao's health, then Al's would be a concern too. That said, Jefferson and Rubio as the second prize isn't too shabby. I'd rather have that than Amare.
As long as Yao is on the rox they will have trouble with pick and roll. He struggles in space as he should given his size. Yao gets hinself in no mans land and thats what hurt. The bigger issue is rim protection in this scenerio and thats what have hurt the rockets. When teams put yao in pnr, guess who's protecting the rim? Scola, landry, jeffries, hill, hayes, and andersen. Look at the fg conversion rates close in and look deeper with yao away from the rim or out the game. Jefferson helps in this area being 6'10,long, and somewhat of a shotblocker. Lets not act new, the rox werent a good pnr defense team with dream. Thats why pg's used to light the rox up. Dream wouldnt really come out and hedge the pick hard, but would stay back and protect the rim. It worked most times cause he could recover, but the guards were killed in pnr. In regards of offensively, it doesnt hurt la that bynum is restricted to 8ft and pau to the ft line in range. Thats pretty much the same as yao and jefferson. The team can run alot of high low sets with al being weak block and running pick and pop at the ft line strongside. I want to see the pf cheat off jefferson to the strongside of brooks and yao. He will step in the lane and pin the guy all day. Yao goes out and the team still has a post presence/rebounder/shotblocker on the floor.
I dont ever remember people calling pau or odom defensive studs, but somehow the lakers are a top defensive team. The lakers defend with their size . When they do it, they're pretty good defensively. When the rox had cato at the 4, they were a pretty good defensive team with their size also.
If we got Rubio would he be willing to play for us?...like did he express disinterest in playing only with Minnesota or in playing in the NBA in general?
Brooks + 1st rounder for Jefferson + Rubio Lowry, Rubio Martin, Budinger Ariza, Battier Jefferson, Scola Yao, Hayes Solid!
Al Jeferson Rubio for Jeffries AB Battier right to swap first rounders with the Knicks in 2011 (NYK 2012 first rounder - if needed) Houston maintains 1st draft picks in years to come, very important to keep drafting talent; don't lose potential talent in Cbud and Hill Twolves, get 2 expiring contracts/experienced players, that could help their young guys, a young, MIP SG, that plays PG, and draft pick(s), important to build the furture Yao/14th draft pick Al jefferson/Hill Ariza/CBud Rubio/Lowry(if re-signed) I am not sure if we can get Rubio to play this year in Houston (any clause in his contract), don't know if you can resign Scola for 8M to be in the bench (comparing to what Varejao got in his extention) I like the senario, lets see what in fact happens
Rubio is stuck in Europe till 2011, that is the issue with trading Brooks for Ricky...Lowry and Conroy???
Isn't there any clause in his contract so that he can return if someone pays X??? If not you cant trade your starting PG for no PGs
I want to say there isn't but if I remember correctly he could buyout his contract but he would be paying his own way, no NBA team could help him and thus would end up losing serious money. <---i'll double check on this.
Two scenarios, both work with the cap rules Hill+JJ+AB + a 1st rounder --> Rubio+Jefferson Battier+JJ+two 1st rounders(maybe even a third) ---> Rubio + Jefferson. The biggest issue is could we steal rubio away from Barcelona. I think Houston is a much better destination than Minnesota but we would need an agreement with Barcelona before we made this trade. That said, Jefferson is a dominating big man who could play alongside Yao at the 4 or replace him in case of injuries. Rubio would be a chance to have a point guard without any obvious flaws(as much as I like AB and Lowry they both have limitations). On a completely different note, if we also could bring over Sergio Lull and he turned out to be a player, we would have the most international flair of any team in the league. Always good for business and makes it easier to go over the luxury tax. I actually almost like this trade more than a bosh trade.
They don't need Brooks or Lowry, they have like 73 PGs on their roster. Give em Trevor a 1st rounder or two and Jeffries.... DD
2009-10 SCOLA/ AL-Jeff PPG 16.2 / 17.1 RPG 8.6 / 9.3 APG 2.1 / 1.8 SPG 0.8 / 0.8 BPG 0.3 / 1.3 FG% 0.514 / 0.498 FT% 0.779 / 0.680 3P% 0.200 / 0.000 MPG 32.6 / 32.4 Keep Scola!!!
Definitely keep scola. The only reason to get rid of him would be if we really saw something we loved in Hill. Otherwise he is a solid player who really stepped up when we needed him this season. I love his scoop shot. That said, he is relatively old and if we have an opportunity to get a younger player with better upside you have to look at the opportunity.
LOOOOL You say that only because you love AB and whant Cbud to play big mins And you hate Ariza, you have to put this in your mind, ARIZA WILL BE IN HOUSTON MANY YEARS AB isn't a PG, Flynn and AB could be a good combo, like Lowry AB was/is in -town If rubio can't come this year you can't give up a PG, because neigther AB or Lowry are great all-star material like Rubio can if he works hard to be
6 year deal with an out clause after 2010-11 season for 1.4 million, so there you go nothing can be done this season about bringing him over except acquire his rights.
