Hmmm, that is intersting...... I could see him getting in late in the season if the Rockets are already out of it, but I think he will be very far down the list.... DD
Also, the starting salary ($725,000) is significantly higher than the rookie minimum for next season ($457,588). Plus, the second year salary ($780,871) is slightly higher than the one-year veteran's minimum for 2010-11 ($762,195), so that decreases the Rockets' 2010 cap room by a WHOPPING $18,676. It is for this extra compensation on the front end that Taylor agreed to give the Rockets essentially a team option (which is actually a partial guarantee, likely for little to no guaranteed money) equal to the two-year veteran's minimum for 2011-12 ($884,293) and a team option for a fourth year at $942,293, which should be right around the three-year veteran's minimum that year. If he sucks, then at least he made himself $1.5M plus. But if he's good, then the Rockets just locked themselves in to a good young player for the league minimum for Years 3 and 4. Quality signing. We'll see what Budinger can get for himself. P.S. As it stands now, based on Taylor's reported salary and the reports on Andersen's slated salary, the Rockets now: (a) have approximately $2,814,185 remaining of their MLE; and (b) are approximately $4,380,367 over the luxury tax threshold.
It would really depend on what he does during training camp and in the pre season. If He can not make a bit of an impact then maybe you are right about being far down the list. Am hoping either Taylor or Chase would end up like Landry. A pleasant surprise for all of us.
I like it. Please have this famous DaDa quote in the sig.... "Stephon Marbury makes his teammates better"
I would take the other side of this bet no doubt. From what I saw in summer league, the kid has skills and is a much more complete player than his reputation on our board indicates.
Well, personally I think he has the skills to be on the Houston Rockets especially with T-Mac out (perhaps, at least for a while). He showed actual skills that will be possible to use on an NBA level and not just against scrubbs. However, he was ridiculously inconsistent. I think it is interesting to see that he was signed before Bundiger who had a much better Summer league statistically and consistency wise. If they think that Jermaine Taylor can sink his shots, he should be able to make the Rockets team this year. Personally, I think Jermaine Taylor has a little bit more talent than Bundinger but isn't really fully in control but it's hard to judge during the summer league
Please note that Taylor was injured in the Summer League.. Please dont use that as part of an argument why he will or wont be playing.
Aside from that point, Summer league performances can not be a benchmark on how a player will turn out to be.
That's a very good point. The Rockets still can't fix Chuck's free throw shooting form after all these years.
It's strange that he mentions JT, Dorsey and Chuck at the Grgurich camp, but didn't say anything about Budinger. Does this mean that Budinger attended, but sucked? Or does this mean he didn't attend at all?
Probably didn't attend. They said there were about 60 guys at the camp though, so hopefully our boys are getting lots of reps in. http://nba.fanhouse.com/2009/08/05/bouncin-around-grgurichs-camp-going-on-quietly-in-las-vegas/ I had to look it up yesterday after Morey mentioned it. Edit: here's one more about it... http://www.examiner.com/x-441-Golde...-and-nobody-notices--just-the-way-he-likes-it
