According to his data and theoretical, in the NBA in the distance is the most unnecessary, or that 15-22ft jumper is the least efficient means for him to score the penalty area and scored 3 points projection is the most effective and the best combination 3-point shooting and the distance is about the same, but a little more, the highest score of the box easiest hits. However, in the playoffs, the opponent will not give you that so much open shot of three points. Daryl Morey's theory is totally a ****, a GARBAGE! Give up your theory, fire McHale and find another coach, or you are going to get the axe! "The laymen lead the experts" The laymen is YOU, Darly Morey!
You need players to fit the system. We get plenty of open 3's, we just don't hit enough of them. We get plenty of free throws, we just don't hit enough of them. We need a coach who can draw up more diverse plays with better ball movement, but I don't think the 3's, layups, and free throws strategy is the problem. We just have players who aren't good at those things. It falls on Morey either way.
Good post. I don't like the system, but if you're going to play by it at least sign a ****ing shooting specialist etc.. Thats almost as important as signing someone like Bosh. If he's really that big on analytics, these moves just don't make sense
Morey would never hire a coach that actually demands a say in front office dealings. Adelman ain't coming back. Keep McHale. Fire Bickerstaff and the rest of the assistant coaches and start plucking coaches from the college system to fill our staff.
The Brewer and Josh Smith additions were strongly recruited by the Stars. I like Brewer, but he has truly struggled mightly this series.
Signing one or two guys who don't "fit" is fine. Brewer and Smith have been atrocious against LAC, but overall have been positives. The thing is...when you have the ENTIRE front line incapable of hitting free throws well, and you have the ENTIRE wing rotation incapable of hitting threes at a consistent clip, and you have the ENTIRE point guard rotation made up of guys who should be 7th or 8th men at best, there's just too much roster imbalance. Throw in the fact that only 1 guy can consistently make plays off the dribble, and you get this Clippers series...
Who saw Ariza being this bad offensively? He was brought in to be a 3 and D player, and has certainly lived up to the D part. We certainly need to retool, especially at the guard position. We need a coach who can maximize this strategy.
Hardwood Paroxysm is trying to analyse what went wrong in a series of tweets. Still can't figure it out. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Moreyball is not “Let’s not play defense” <a href="https://t.co/ipOkYJVcow">https://t.co/ipOkYJVcow</a></p>— Hardwood Paroxysm (@HPbasketball) <a href="https://twitter.com/HPbasketball/status/597597421540089856">May 11, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
actually curious what the **** is? I can't think of a cuss word that fits there. "Daryl Morey's theory is totally a ****, a GARBAGE!" a c*nt? someone help me here.
The inability for Houston to hit shots from inside the arc has killed us. Absolutely not mid range game to speak of with the addition of zero post up ability spells doom for post season success. Had no idea how much Howard lacks post moves. Relies too much on alley opps..
A ****ing MEN !!! This post hits the nail on the head squarely. 0We might have faired a little better had we had Bev and Dmo, but I am not even sure they would have made a huge difference...
repped But until this series, the team was chugging along, able to do patchwork. Or Harden was able to cover all the holes. But not now. Still can't explain the 'quit' in this team. Frustration? No game plan? No pride?

Morey is surprising us with good moves and then he is embarassing himself with those players in the playoffs.
