Scola, Battier, and T-Mac are pretty damn good commodities. I'd say we've got a lot of chips to play with if we are going in a new, young direction. Looks like we're going to develop our young talent and aquire some more, wait for Yao to get healthy, and sign an impact FA next year.

    I like the plan.

yeah in my fantasy dream land we trade for rubio. during next seasons trading dealine we trade tmac for a few bad contracts and at least top 5 pick in next years draft. and the rockets will probably be pretty pathetic next year so should have a very high draft pick. that would be a very fast rebuild with some very good potential.

will be a crazy year to year and a half for this team. hope morey plays his cards right. would be stressful but hella fun to have his job these next few seasons.

This is what i feel. Amare is in the age bracket that fits a rebuilding plan for the team. If they get gortat, they should roll with it, but i would still be pushing to get rid of battier who serves no purpose on a uptempo younger team. resign Von would be good also and back him up with a guy like matt barnes. If they miss on gortat, go after Gasol or Jordan. Use scola as trade bait in every scenerio possible also.

I hope his plan is too come out in 2010 with a nasty compliment of role players, a healthy and fresh Yao, a high lottery pick and a brand new max contract caliber player from the class of 2003.

The odds of any single team getting LeBron James or Wade are very small. There are other ways to build a champion. Putting all your eggs in that basket seems kind of foolish to me.

I think morey should give tmac a 5 year extension for the maximum. Nothing like a good long term deal of 20+ million each year guarenteed for the next 5 seasons to motivate mac. I would expect a return to Orlando Tmac if the extension gets done.

Nobody heard anything on Bibby yet? I could have sworn he said last year he was going to retire in Houston.

If you had read most of the posts, in particular mine, you would see we know that you can actually trade for a pick.

I looked at it again,we gave one 1st round pick ie Donte Green in 2008,and one first round pick in 2009,which I believe was the 23th pick from the Ron Artest trade. The Kings chose Omri Casspi with it. So we do have a 2010 1st round pick, after all.

Hopefully Morey is thinking of a master plan:

We will know the direction Morey will take by the trade deadline. If Mac and Yao arnt healthy and we are not around the .500 mark, watch for some swift trade with some picks attached.

If you think that right now the Rockets have the same contending potential as they had a year ago, you would be delusional. Without McGrady and Yao, we have a mediocre squad that will NOT be a serious championship contender. However, we are just good enough so that it doesn't make sense to completely blow up the team just yet.

That is Morey's dilemma. He has to leave enough flexibility going forward so he can start the rebuilding process if it comes down to it, but he also wants to keep the team competitive enough in case Yao does return at some point next season. This to me explains everything that he has been doing so far this summer (chasing Rubio; offering Ron a one-year deal; going after but not overpaying for Gortart, etc.).

We have a first round pick as mentioned already.

We gave the Kings our pick THIS season - they used it to draft a thin guy who can't really shoot (Omri Cassipi) - he's a tweener, which makes him a good fit with Donte Green - the thin guy who CAN shoot.

Oh yeah, my bad. I got the years messed up. :D

But tanking the season might be hard, we have a pretty good team without Yao/TMac. A team that can play well enough to make it to the playoffs and make some noise. A team that can attract a superstar in 2010. Although this team aint gonna win the championship, its on the right track.

We got a good team and a great organization.

    We cool man, we cool
