I am also really curious to know how much it was. I imagine it will come out at some point.

Geez, do we really need to know the details??

    What has happened, happened.

Quit figuring out **** to blame, especially since Morey is in a position to fix things for this season, at least.

It'll make you feel better to not wade knee deep in garbage from the past.

Pls just do not mention that prick Hayward. Hayward was a lottery pick as far as I can remember that he aint worth max or near max money.

He just looks like a farmboy Kobe.

If any team had offered Parsons a true max then we could have matched. I am sure another team like Orlando would have given Parsons a max contract. Fegan engineered this with his buddy Cuban. If we had maxed contract at 4 years to match Parsons would have been a asset that could be shed if need be to snag the next superstar that is attainable. Now if we had matched then we were stuck with that roster for a few years. Right now we are still in play for a top tier PF that becomes available.

I'm not sure it was the money as much as the money combined with the structure of the contract. He probably could have signed elsewhere for similar money but he let Dallas (and Fegan) make it as onerous as possible.

I will admit I thought CP had a wink-wink deal going into free agency, but either that was wrong or things fell apart. Regardless, I'm OK with this. There were some not so weak signals that CP was getting a little cocky and entitled. Those have become stronger with the signing (and how the signing took place).

I'm thinking he would have been worse here next year because he will try to justify the impression he has of himself, will press too hard, and not let the game come to him. Remains to be seen if Carlisle can deal with that effectively.

I'm fairly certain the Rockets only made a qualifying offer (the minimum)... As DrN said previously, Morey let the market dictate Parson's value. They didn't lowball him. If anything, Dallas overpaid, and Morey decided not to follow suit.

Morey made a Qualifying offer to hold CP. Chandler knew Rockets plans to match and knew their summer plans to big game hunt. He easily could have waited until the Lebron fiasco was over and still got his money from someplace but he chose to sign a deal early and force his way out knowing the Rockets couldn't and shouldn't match. There is no way Chandler is worth that kind of Money nor do I believe he is a budding super star as he has stated. Leave it to Cuban to overpay for someone and box himself into a contract he cannot trade. I don't think Rockets were being cheap, just smart. Mavs have always thrown money at their problems. I want to see if Cuban gives Chandler the max in two years when he opts out. Does anyone believe Chandler is worth 20 million a season because that is about what it will cost Cuban to resign Chandler in 2016.

Morey did Chandler a favor and made him a free agent early(This was a gamble on the possibility of signing a max FA and then signing CP afterwards to whatever the market price was. This would have our roster set for a championship). Chandler's agent did what agents are supposed to do and found him the best money available. The contract was for more money than Rockets management felt Chandler was worth(I agree fwiw). We didn't sign our max FA and our roster is NOT set so why tie up all our money?

    End of story.

IMO Chandler knew that the contract he was signing was going to end his time here. Chandler knew that the trade stipulations and player option were going to be hard pills for Morey to swallow.

He made him a free agent thinking he could sign him. Otherwise he just waits till next year, but it backfired because he underestimated the market.

When your entire argument is presented on top of the unfounded suspicions that Morey MAY have attempted to low-ball Parsons, then yeah... you will be ridiculed all the way.

What most likely happened was, Morey released Parsons a year early as a gamble that he won't get an offer like he did, and Morey can match the offer and keep him. This worked out well with Lowry for instance. Problem is, Cuban is butt hurt and has his thong twisted and tried to screw the Rockets over with his offer sheet. Parsons for the max? Are you kidding me? Parsons is my 2nd favorite player on the team last year and I would NOT want DM to pay him max.

That said, this failure of an offseason does put Morey on notice. The Bosh debacle was not his fault, but it still sucked for us. It's not fair for Morey, but hey that's how the cookie sometimes crumbles in businesses.

Dont sweat it man. I know exactly what you meant as do others. Its just that there are always morey lovers who are just as bad as LOFs when it comes to criticism of their idol
