You and I think alike, apparently. I think Turiaf would be great under Adelman. He can play in the high post and is an underrated passer. Like you said, he has a decent and improving mid-range game. Everybody knows he gets it done defensively. He can also get up and down the court and hang with the young guys. I don't know what it would take to get him but I'd be down for it if the price is right. The problem is, we'd probably have to give up one of the young guys to get him. Maybe, something like Outlaw and Hayes would get it done later in the season when Outlaw can be traded? I say Outlaw because we would have Ariza, assuming that deal doesn't fall through at the last minute. Budinger could back him up.
You think Turiaf is sexy? There must be something wrong with you, unless of course you are a woman. All kidding aside, Turiaf is alright. I wouldnt mind if we did aquire him but wouldnt be mad if we didnt. I think Scola, Hayes, and Landry are qualified to get the job done. As you said, I know he is a good shot blocker. Offensive wise, I never thought much of him as a offensive player.
There are a lot of players I want from the Blazers. Fernandez, Bayless, Pryzbilla, Frye, Roy, Aldridge... (Ok, so the last two will never happen...) But if we can get Fern and Pryz for Battier and another player (Lowry? Cook?), I'd do that in a heartbeat.
Yeah, but I'm racking my brain and coming up empty. Why on earth would GS want another SF and undersized PF, even though both players are pretty solid. I think another team would have to be involved. Unless Brooks was involved, then you'd have to change your handle
The Vanilla Gorilla Joel Przybilla or aka the best flopping C in the league? Hah..You could do worse but also better.
No worries about the handle. I have no problem moving Brooks for the right deal. I was a fan before Brooks and I'll be one after. I just wasn't down with getting an aging Nash and I'm not hyped about Rubio like a lot of other people. When I was discussing Turiaf, I was assuming that we had already traded Brooks/Battier for Bayless/Rudy/Outlaw. Outlaw seems to be a great fit for GS. That's why I threw him in the mix.
If it means anything the Blazer fans feel the same about Battier on there boards like we feel about there talent on ours, now it just takes the GMs to talk which I am sure is happening already.
Portland is the last team we need to be trading with. We dont need a Guard. we need a CENTER. the only person i would want from portland is pryzbilla, and thats only if yao is out for the entire season for SURE.
News: Bayless has been added to the Blazers' 2009 summer league roster, The Oregonian reports. Spin: Bayless made a splash in Las Vegas last summer, averaging 29.8 points and taking home MVP honors. But the summer league success didn't translate into steady playing time in his rookie campaign. The Blazers shipped backup point guard Sergio Rodriguez to Sacramento last week to free up playing time for Bayless, but there's still a chance a free agent point guard will be added to the mix. If Bayless can put together another solid showing in Las Vegas, it could convince Portland not to pursue any backcourt help from outside the organization. incase anyone has doubts about him...
One very positive Bayless stat from last season was his FTA per 36 min as well as his FT%: http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/bayleje01.html We knew he could do that in Summer League but that data points to him being able to do it againt NBA competition as well. Again, you can't overanalyze Bayless' stats in limited minutes. He is all about potential given that he's only 20. He has good size and could end up being Lowry-esque in terms of getting to the line. Imagine that 1-2 punch of penetrating PGs. Foul trouble galore for the opposition.
I've been thinking that for a while too. Something like this maybe http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=5169409 GSW gets Amare, Hayes gives up Turiaf, Wright, Belinelli, Morrow, Davidson, Claxton PHO gets Wright, Bellinelli, Morrow, Davidson, Brooks, Tmac gives up Amare, Barbosa, Richardson, Dragic HOU gets Barbosa, Richardson, Dragic, Turiaf, Claxton gives up Tmac, Brooks, Hayes
It's settled then. Should we tweet Morey for Brooks/Battier for Bayless/Rudy/Outlaw like he wanted us to tweet for Gortat? Is that how we make it work for us?
we neeed a god damn center!!! not another 6'9 guy!!! but i like this...its a start... but i dont think the warriors would want to give so much for amare and chuck hayes...
Dang that's a complex trade. I was thinking something a little less confusing and complex. If we started on that trade today, I'm still not sure it'd get done by the trade deadline. Thank god Morey went to MIT. Ha!
Trust me that one's been marinating in my head for a while. I was so proud when I got it to work on RealGM.
Brooksball, I looked up his foul % at 82games, and he was fouled 18% of his shots. Those are some absurd numbers. Same as Lowry, by the way 18.3% - 18.0%. Bayless http://www.82games.com/0809/08POR3.HTM Lowry http://www.82games.com/0809/08HOU1.HTM Of course, those may be coming against backup PG's that're a bit slow.
Bayless isn't much of an "upgrade" over Brooks, at least at the PG position. Right now it seems like Bayless is an undersized SG. If we're going for an upgrade at PG then maybe Morey is still trying to deal for Rubio. They could do a three way deal: Blazers get: Brooks Battier T-Wolves get: Fernandez Outlaw or Bayless Rockets get: Rubio Etan Thomas or Brian Cardinal (both expiring contracts) Blazers get a hometown hero and Laker-killer Aaron Brooks, along with a veteran "glue guy" that can do all the dirty work. T-wolves get a couple of SG/SF which is a weakness for their team right now and clean up the whole Rubio mess. Rockets, according to rumors, already offered Brooks and Battier for Rubio. This deal gets them the PG that Morey coveted and gives the team additional cap space next year when Cardinal/Thomas come off the books. Win/Win/Win for everybody. Not as big a win for Minnesota but the Blazers and Rox get solid deals.
