Hey, he may be on the short side, but maybe he'd be up to the challenge!

ah yes the ole friend of a friend who knows a source

Why would the blazers think about dealing bayless when they need to upgrade their PG situation themselves? That makes me wonder about Bayless, would he really be an upgrade over AB? Cause I think that the Blazers would love to have their local college hero instead of Blake.

I think Battier is gone for sure. Where? I have no clue.

My thought is I want to say your bluffing but then again not. You said your "source" isnt giving out names but if its only with Portland, then you say it would or could be Bayless, and therefore you are giving out the name. This seems a little spotty to me but maybe thats just me.

If he is like Francis then that is not an upgrade in the pg position. Francis was a ballhog and was not a true pg.

Exactly. Portland is trying to aquire a better PG. And not to mention, they lost Sergio Rodriguez which means it is only Blake and Bayless at the point. Unless you consider RF a pg?

    Houston gets:
    the rights to Ricky Rubio

    Portland gets:

True or not, something like this would be great for the Rockets if it does materialize.

All of a sudden, we are young and talented in 6 spots of our rotation. We won't be a contender but we'll have created a nice foundation that is missing only a decent center and a top-tier scoring wing.

    Lowry/Bayless
    Rudy/Taylor
    Ariza/Outlaw/Budinger
    Scola/Landry
    ?

Only Scola is getting up in age out of that group. Lots of young talent between Lowry, Bayless, Rudy, Ariza, Outlaw and Landry. Taylor or Budinger are still unknowns but give us more youth, athleticism and potential.

Next year, I'd be looking to nab a Joe Johnson type player to become our star scoring wing and find a decent, athletic center that can play defense and run.

All that said, I'm not sure Portland would give up that much for just Brooks and Battier. We all hear they are looking to move Outlaw and that Rudy is disgruntled. I also heard a few murmurs during the season that Bayless wasn't necessarily a keeper in their eyes. Still, that seems like a lot of young talent for them to give up. Who knows though... stranger things have happened.

I really like the battier for bayless/fernandez trade idea. the unfortunate thing is that i can't see where portland would get their backup point guard unless brooks/lowry were included. They have to like brooks, especially after what he did to them and the lakers in the playoffs.

Unless they find a PG in Free Agency

In that case, it'd be Brooks/Battier for Bayless/Rudy/Outlaw, which isn't so bad either.

    Maybe.

    Portland lineup

    Brooks/Blake
    Roy/Webster
    Battier/Batum
    Aldridge/Who Knows
    Oden/Pryzbilla

That's a solid lineup. As for us:

    Lowry/Bayless
    Rudy/Taylor
    Ariza/Outlaw/Budinger
    Scola/Landry
    Who Knows??????

Our lineup gets young in a hurry.

is it just me or is anyone else unimpressed by Bayless? Dude has almost a 1 to 1 turnover/ assist ratio. His FG% is atrocious and his 3% makes me want to ask him never to shoot from long range again.

How does this guy make us better? Best i can tell, both Brooks and Lowry are better PGs.

Really young but remember Yao will be back some day and TMAC's contract is still up in the air so this team will add more pieces!

Brooks was much the same as a rookie, and he was 22 when he came to the NBA, not 19 like Bayless. It's also said that Bayless could hit the 3 in college, just like Brooks, and that it takes at least a year to make the transition to the NBA three (just like Brooks).

I think in 2 years, he'll probably be at least equal Brooks.

He's 20-years-old and barely played last season. I wouldn't overanalyze his numbers or his performances. It's almost entriely about potential with him. He's got good size and has the potential to be a great finisher around the basket. He's got more PG skills than Brooks. I like Brooks but if we could package him and Battier for that much young talent, I'd do it without hesitation. It's pretty easy to argue that both Brooks' and Battier's trade value will never be higher, even though there is no way to say for sure, particularly with Brooks. My bigger concern is I don't think any potential deal with Portland would end up being this much in our favor. That's a lot of talent and potential coming our way. I would think the key is how much Portland values a guy like Battier.

By the way, and I know this is a Portland trade discussion, but tell me this:

Does Turiaf from GS look as sexy to you as he does to me? Developing midrange game, solid D when he's not a manic man, and can get up and down the court. Not to mention he'll block 2-3 shots a game. Young, cheap.

    What's not to like?

Portland isn't trading Bayless or Rudy.

If it is for a upgrade pg, I believe that pg is Rubio. Since Battier+ Brooks didn't work out, this has to be a three-way trade!
