If we can't all laugh about stuff, then what is the point, the smiley is there to show that I am joking. I have people that follow me around on here and just pick fights...Assid is one, SamFisher another......so I play along a bit..... I concede that Bosh is a better player, this was purely a discussion about overall team roster and whether or not what was being said really had a hidden meaning. No fricken kidding. DD
The Rockets will not take that risk. NY did it with David Lee because they wanted to be in the position, salary cap wise, that they're in now. If some team offers Scola $8 million/yr then the Rockets either have to match or let him go. I just don't understand your theory on how Morey is lying just so that Scola can be signed on the cheap when it's not 100% on the Rockets as to what he's going to sign for.
Not that he is lying per se, but rather that he has an agenda to drive his price down. Heck, it is what I would do, it is smart business....he did it with Landry too, remember the whole...KNEE issue? They have to make both Kyle and Luis a one year tender offer.....for a low ball figure.... It generally stops other teams from coming in and making larger offers unless they really value them as players....I doubt Luis or Kyle get a huge offer, though they might if someone else in the league thinks they can scare the Rockets off. ------------------------------------------------------------------ As for the personal stuff, at least I can use this thread to ferret out the haters....got to find the silver lining in everything... DD
I think it makes sense for Kyle to accept a 1yr, but not Scola. I also think Scola will receive better offers. Not every team values Kyle like Morey does, because Kyle struggles to shoot.
You may be right, but I think both have value to teams that are weak at that position. But they will both be waiting until late in the process as all the big dogs get fought over first before the others even get to eat. DD
IMHO, I think Scola will be in a Rockets uniform whether we get a player like Bosh or Jefferson. He loves this city and he wants to be here.
Yes, I really believe that too, I don't think CB4 will be here or Morey will be after him, I think he is using him as cover up for some other player that he might sign, which I believe make it more interesting down the road.
I think the OP is wrong. If you plan to just "tinker" with the team and let it improve as the players get older, you don't trade Carl Landry for Kevin Martin. Also, that is a bad strategy to begin with. Our young talent isn't good enough to grow into an elite team. The young teams that will become elite tomorrow are those that have young superstars like Kevin Durant today, the blazers if they stay healthy, etc. We don't have anyone remotely approaching that. We need to either go all in or dump yao/kmart for young, healthy players. Otherwise we're looking at 50-55 win first and second round eliminations for the next 5 years.
I think that team could be a very good team, maybe top 5 in the west. However, by now, it is almost silly to say if Yao is healthy. Even if he is relatively much healthier, it will take him more than half the season to get into the peak of his ability, imo.
The Rockets better be careful how they handle the Lowry situation. The Clippers wanted him when the Rockets wanted Camby. They still need a point guard since Davis is getting up there in age and they have a boat load of cash to spend. I know the Rockets can match any offer, but Morey has a rep for not overpaying, so if the Clips offer him more the Rox are willing to pay, I can see them letting him go.
That is interesting, it is a bit like Tim Tebow being drafted in the first round, it only takes one organization to want a guy and that changes everything. DD
The Rockets did win games with brooks. And that's with ariza and lowry were out. If ariza and brooks are out, the rockets don't win period. You got to replace what brooks brings to table. I can't see why people on this board want to get rid of brooks. If anything you get rid of lowry, go out and find a pt guard that can run the offense better and play defense. And let brooks come off the bench.
DD, an honest question. Do you not trust Morey? Because I certainly do. 90% of his moves are masterful and completely unexpected. If he wants Bosh, which most believes he does, can't we give him the benefit of the doubt. Hasn't he earned it? He isnt going to gut the team. He isnt here to make a splash and get his name in the paper, the guy is setting us up to be really good for a really long time...
You need a brewsky, brother. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. Watching Morey work is almost as fun as watching the games.
There isn't an untradable player on this team, except for Yao, unfortunately. Everything is on the table for Morey if it makes the team better and there are likely things out there that will make this team better that will involve moving the likes of Brooks, Scola, Budinger, etc... in combination with picks, cash, etc... You probably would have said the same thing about Landry early last season.
I'm kind of looking at some hypocrisy here. Anyways, Brooks nor Budinger will bring us a championship. The talent in the free agency pool is ridiculous. We are almost guaranteed to land on one or two goodies, which is why we should not be standing pat. If we don't make a move this off-season, and we get NOTHING this off-season, then we are at best a second rounder playoff team. Our Knicks' pick aren't guaranteed high picks, depending on how much talent Knicks sign this off season. We might as well use them to acquire an established post player who could make up for the potential loss of during regular season and ESPECIALLY during post season.
I like how you go from "STAND PAT" to "WE DON'T HAVE A LEADER" in the same thread. I'm only on page three, I can only imagine how many times you've flip-flopped by the last page.
