There seems to be more logical and smart debate over here than over at the Solomon thread and that's disappointing.
I'd say that Solomon wins. He's accomplished exactly what he intended to when he wrote that article. He wants hits and attention and that's exactly what he's getting. He couldn't have been happier to see Morey's tweets. That's just more attention. If you are really bothered by the stuff that he wrote (which were his intentions), you don't make a big deal about it. You don't comment on his blog, you don't bring attention to it by creating threads on CFs, you don't tweet about it, etc... All of this reaction and attention absolutely guarantees that he's going to write more stuff like this in the future because it's delivering the goods. Solomon isn't even a Rockets fan. He's not from Houston. He doesn't really care if they win or lose or where this season ranks, historically. He just wants hits and attention. That's his job. Solomon wins. You all took the bait.
CH, when the rockets were led by hakeem and they handled the lakers in dreams 2nd season, of course it was about next year. It has been well written about the team that never was. What i'm talking about is look at who was in the way of those teams. The 80's lakers were a dynasty and the rockets ran them off the court. They lost to one of the greatest teams in their prime in the 86 celtics. We're talking about tracy and yao losing to the freaking utah jazz and dallas mavs with homecourt advantage 1 year and up 2-0 going home another year in a 7 game season. Once the rockets saw ralph was done, wiggins, lloyd, and lucas couldnt put the caine down, they retooled and tried it over, but they were never serious. The only thing we really got out of those teams was watching Dream dominate. They still had their franchise player dominating, but then they made subtle moves like trading for thorpe and smith, signing maxwell for a box of Honeycomb cereal and stuff like that. They lost to Lakers 1 yr early, Dream had a dispute with management and they wound up in lotto land. After getting guys like elie who was on the, getting herrera, drafting horry and sam i am, and starting the year of strong, we were saying, this might be our year or at least i was. They lost a tooth and nail seeries to sonics, but everyone and their mama in houston believed houston was 1 of the top 3 teams in the west and in the league because they had one of the top 3 players in the entire league and he was dominant. They had problems with seattle, but other than that it was clear they wer championship quality. They didnt celebrate 1st rd advances, they had bigger fish to fry. To make a long story short, i think its more about stuffed suits and business deals vs winning rings. I thought this team played well despite who they had in street clothes, but it still feels like the same tired song. If this or if that next year. I'm patient and i'm going to ride it out as usual.
nicely said! I cheer the players because they give everything they got in the court, trying to win every game, if they give up and doesnt want to play, then Im mad at them.
this is exactly what i said in the other thread, i wish people would stop posting his stuff here so he'd lose his readers
I don't know where to paste this: http://www.sloansportsconference.com/2010/panel-videos/what-geeks-dont-get-the-limits-of-moneyball/
dmorey @RocketsJCF If you ain't first, you're last. You know, you know what I'm talking about? I live my whole life by that! lol
Just for the sake of argument, let's grant that Solomon does have a point. Now what are we fans supposed to do? Stop watching until the Rockets get out of mediocrity? It would make us fair weather bandwagoners, wouldn't it? So if we keep on cheering for our team, we are accepting mediocrity. Damned if you don't damned if you do.
Anyone know what is going on with Friedman and Morey? I read Friedman's blast about Daryl not fooling anyone? Anyone know what that was about
I think they are just having some fun and possibly mocking Solomon's article about the Rockets' season. It's hilarous to read, imo
Sorry for bringing an old thread, but yet another WIN by Morey on Twitter! (He accidentaly clicked on some link on twitter , which was acting as exploit and was publishing some javascript code on your profile so you can infect others bla-bla, anyway whole twitter was affected for a couple of hours but it's sorted now) sportsguy33: Is there some sort of Twitter hack retweet thing going on? I think @dmorey just retweeted the DaVinci Code. link dmorey: @sportsguy33 when translated and put up to a mirror it says "all your basketball are belong to us" link So pic of DM and text combined of course
