Well considering he started out in Boston Globe and ended up in the Houston Chronicle while DM started out as a stat geek in the Boston Celts and ended up as the Houston GM, I'd say Jerome Solomon is actually the failed version of Daryl Morey.

I guess since you know the guy personally you have every right to defend him, but honestly if you attack basically everyone who follows the Rockets then you deserve every bit of bashing you get. DM didn't say anything wrong, everything he pointed out was true, Solomon's article lacked any kind of analysis or forethought.

DD and the other posters here keep saying that DM should be above and beyond this type of stuff, but IMO you should call out writers like these. Ignoring them only encourages these guys be even more over-the-top. Now that he's been put in place, maybe JS will submit a better article next time.

Yep... Solomon's nonsensical analysis is insulting to fans and everyone who work in the Rockets organization, from Les Alexander to the coahces, to the players who tried hard to put a winning product on the court, to the geeks locked up in their geek room full of computers (or at least I like to imagine them that way) to the guys working on ticket sales and other promotions.

I'd bet Morey heard from people among most of these groups and just decided whatever loss in business due to alienating Jerome Solomon fans (and others who, I guess, don't like GMs talking too much) will more than offset by the moral increase amongs Rockets employees and appreciation of fans who see Solomon's idiocy.

You can't split a blackjack because it isn't the same card.

Re-read what I wrote - I didn't say "a blackjack", but "at Blackjack". And I am not saying this theoretically. He split two aces and split again and ended up getting 4 x 21 (not a Blackjack because after you split, that is not possible) - and he knew the statistical chance of that (very very small) right afterwards.

He's just that good. He is the black Epic Beard Man (without the beard).

Can someone please alter the video to put Morey's head on EBM and Jerome's on...Jerome's. Preferably the Nintendo version. Thanks in advance.

P.S.: McGrady can take the role of Amber Lamps in the video as the person who doesn't give a damn.

I just read these comments from Bart Hubbuch on Twitter. FYI He is the NFL beat writer for the NY Post... Is all this hate towards DM because of the McLady trade?

@blwarren Also, bottom line, Rockets w/o "Moneyball: 2 NBA titles. Rockets w/"Moneyball": 1 playoff series win in 13 years.

@xblrocketman111 OK, 1 playoff series win in 4 years, 3 of them with Yao. Nothing to brag about.

This takes the cake... this coming from a beat writer in NYC where the KICKS are allegedly called a basketball team. What pressure did the NYC fan base give the Knicks... to be mediocre!

@blwarren GM with a more demanding fan base (like NYC) would have felt pressure to go get a better fill-in center, like col said.

solomon is just doing the richie justice approach...write something he knows almost EVERY fan of that sports team will disagree with and "BOOM" youve got a million hits, a thousand comments and a slap on the back for a good job. just look back to his "dunta robinson isnt the bad guy here for writing pay me rick on his shoes then coming out and crapping on the field all season" even he cant believe some of the poop that hits the page under his blog...

For some reason i was out and about and actually bought a houston chronicle and read the article. I mean, how many times have we heard next year on this board? How many times have we heard if tracy or yao wasn't hurt? How many excuses do posters use about the rockets? We have people crap on the the mavs alot, but they have been a better franchis than the rockets pretty much every year. The lakers and spurs are eons ahead of us all the time even in decline. The moment La was behind the rockets, it didn't last long before they jumped ahead of us again. I think they overachieved considering what they had to deal with, but what will be the excuse next year? Just saying

Another person trying to get "hits" off of a controversy.

Also, how much do you want to bet this guy knows Solomon personally.

And people wonder why I love blogs better than mainstream media.

There are no excuses next year. I don't know if I would call it "championship or bust", but for Yao next year is everything. If he doesn't get and stay healthy and produce in the playoffs, there is no way we can afford to bring him back for the max.
