the true stupidity of your claim is that i have some ulterior motive if i've ever had a problem saying something is racial if i thought so. its a message board, i don't have ulterior motives, i don't know any of you really. i can say what i want
You've defended Solomon before, why don't you admit you knew what you were doing here and we can all get back to our castles.
honestly, I haven't defended him in a while, because I don't like to keep doing the pathetic i know him routine. and if you read the original post I didn't defend what he wrote here. I defended the fact that he isn't jealous of daryl morey, because I know what's he's done to get to where he is.
...I don't think most of clutchfans is white... well lets see! show of hands? Anybody? Beuller? (this thread has me cracking up)
I have no idea what the leading persuasion of clutchfans is, I do know that in Texas a lot of the white folk don't watch NBA ball because of certain prejudices and thats a shame. But it is safe to say I know for a fact that pgabriel judges BBS members based on the color of their signatures. I SEEN'T IT!
Yeah, I don't think he's jealous of Morey.. I just think they flat out don't like each other. Add to that, he needs internet hits being a "Chron Sports blogger", I'm sure he knows he's going to rile people up with it.
No fighting my good friend, just sharpening the intellect of my brother, pgabriel by challenging his thoughts and beliefs, as he is doing in return. Debate sharpens the mind.
Said it before, my thing about this is if you shoot the s**t with Bill Simmons and Jerome Solomon in Twitter, you're not that "classy". A term people like to place with shrewd, likable upper management types. You're badassy, but perhaps not as classy I'd guess 70-75% of the ACTIVE posters is white, but whats that got to do with anything? Bottom line with fans - Black writers or white writers arent allowed any more justification from the other to trash the organization in articles. If a lilly white writer with the Orlando Sentinel is way too unfairly negative about the Magic organization and doing it at a personal level, it gives GM Otis Smith reasons to tell him shove off.
I really doubt it is that high. Houston is a very diverse city, and given the small sample size I have met of CF posters, I can attest to the fact that CF itself also reflects that melting pot of various ethnicities. Part of what makes this place so great, the sharing of ideas.
btw, I've also mentioned on this site that my son played basketball with morey's son in a little league last December, 08. He was actually pretty cool, and feel bad because I started a thread on how agitated he was during the mcgrady ordeal. I took advantage of him just being himself while spending sometime with his son.
I think he's just having fun. Perhaps this time he had a bit more claw, but Queen had it coming. His column was lazy journalism at it's worst, and he deserves to be called on it.
I think Morey thought through it pretty well before posting the tweet on Solomon. Here are his two responses to another sports writer who questioned whether Morey was taking a cheap shot: The point is that Solomon isn't just attacking the player choices Morey made, but accusing the front office of misleading fans and accusing fans of being sheep. He's not angry at someone callin him a crappy GM, he defending the franchise and everyone he works with against someone accusing them of having dishonorable motivation. I don't recall Morey ever taking as aggressive a tone publicly even in the earlier years when people were b****ing about the AB/Landry draft and the Battier trade. It's one thing to discuss peronnel moves, it's quite another to say the franchise is lying to fans and fans are gullible for believing that the team is trying. I think Morey is betting most people can see the difference and have determined that the overall effect of calling Solomon out is positive.
I don't know about all the stupid racial stuff going on in this thread. From a journalistic point of view though, Jerome's articles are pieces of crap. Morey owned his @ss and deservedly so. The man should retire from journalism and go do something else with his life. He knew perfectly well that going into the season as we were constructed there was no chance of us making an impact. Yet, at the end of the season, when all is said and done and we did decently well, he still wrote that piece of crap? The man should be fired for such horrible journalism, nothing to do with race. If he wants to write incendiary stuff he should work for "The Enquirer". It seems that's all his talent is worth.
Morey is finally showing his true colors. I don't agree what Salmons wrote, but there was no need for this. First rumors of him shoving people, then him throwing temper tantrums kicking chairs, now this. Morey you......
I agree... that is what irritated me... he, Solomon, basically said that all Rockets fans have the mindset of a child... I'm sorry, but I'm pretty sure I could whip him in the intelligence department - basketball-wise or jeopardy-wise
There's nothing classless about what he said. His remark was sarcastic and meant to demonstrate the silliness of Solomon's logic. If he wanted to be "classless", he easily could have made it much worse. Read some of the responses in this thread, as an example.
