I wasn't talking about non stars. Our only 'stars' are Martin, Lowry, and kinda Scola. And all 3 of those are on the trading block.

Look, I'm not saying we shouldn't look to move these guys. In fact, I think we should try and move them. My point is, this isn't a regular business and I hate when people use that arguement.

In any sports league, you need to keep your players happy. That doesn't mean bending over for them, giving them contracts 5x their worth, etc. But it seems pretty appearant that players don't want to come play for us, more so than anytime I can think of in the past. Is that DM's fault? Maybe, maybe not. Regardless, something has to change.

Don't forget Kupchak. He let Ariza and Shannon Brown go rather than give them market level deals.Traded Fisher and Walton. He's now trying to trade Gasol for the 2nd time and is also shopping Artest. Even rumors of Bynum being shopped. How about Kapono who signed as a free agent in Dec. '11 and then got traded to Cleveland in March of '12? Do players not want to go to LA because of the way they've traded their guys?

Go look at the turnover that the Knicks, Celtics, Nuggets, Blazers have had over the last 5 years.

Boston hasn't shopped Rondo around the league several times?

Do you think Nene feels good about resigning in Denver and then getting shipped to Washington? Who are the Nets unwilling to trade to get Howard?

How did Cuban reward Chandler, Barea or Stevenson after they helped Dallas win their first title?

It's the same everywhere, teams are always trying to get better.

Star players want to go somewhere they have a chance to win a title. Unfortunately we can't offer that right now.

Role playes also want to win titles but they also want to go somewhere where they'll have a chance to play.

Of course a Jermaine O'Neil wouldn't want to come to Houston for the vet minimum. First of all, he proabably thinks that he's worth more than the minimum. If he is going to take the minimum then he's going to look for a team that has a chance for a ring. He's also going to look for a team that will need to actually play him. What he isn't going to do is to go to a team with a whole lot of younger player who need playing time and a team that will continue to look for a long term answer at the center spot.

Is it really any shock that guys who get beaten out for positions/playing time don't agree with management and complain?

That may be one of the most inane statements I have read here.

Those are, arguably, our best players, but they're not stars. There's a difference between treating Lebron, Wade, and Bosh with kid gloves and treating borderline stars, much less superstars, the same way.

That being said, these superstars are sissies. I used to like Dwight until this mess started. Screw 'em. Give me a bunch of lottery picks every year, I don't mind watching ones that bust their butts. Well, for a few years, anyway... lol.

Owners and GM's are Probably some of the most disliked people on the planet. Go to any fan site and you will see fans bashing these guys in every city. As far as the players go, I think they just see it as business. All these people, the players, the GM's, the owners, they all make ridiculous amounts of money.

Sports teams have to make difficult and unpopular decisions all the time. You think maybe there are some unhappy Laker players right about now. NY knick players and fans are always unhappy. The Miami Heat lose two games in a row, and the world is about to end. I'm sure the players view Morey as just another GM trying to do his job.

I agree. I put '' around stars because they're not stars... but the closest thing we have.

And yeah, these superstars are becoming more and more diva like. It's disguisting. People would kill to be in their shoes to play a game that you love for a living, while making some very good money. But now, they all want to be treated like royalty. It's gross.

I did, however, enjoy the diva Ron Ron... I mean Mettaworldpeace. lol. At least he was entertaining.

Hired a coach you dont like you mean.

Majority of the players had good things to say last I read.

Low ball contract? Scola cant even be traded because of his money. WTF is this?

Gm that don't make their players feel like constant assets no matter what. It doesn't matter if theyre stars or role players. If a player is happy, he performs well and play hard. If he feel like a tool and just an asset, he wont perform well.

I understand Morey wants to trade for a star but he can't just constantly have his players in the trading block every single year. If he wants to trade them then trade them. If not then stop treating the whole entire team like assets. They have family, kids that attend schools. They have to understand that its stressful for players and their families to constantly be on edge because they don't know when and where they have to move. That can be really stressful for any players and their family.

They were talking about it on ESPN one day about the players in Orlando. THey were saying how Dwight Howard was being immature and selfish because the way he's acting towards the MAgic organization and how it affects the players and their families because they were constantly on edge about not knowing if they have to move somewhere else and their kids having to go to new schools and losing their friends and such.

I know its a business but NBA players are people too and their families have normal lives just like any of us. Imagine you finally settled into your new city and finally got used to it and made new friends. But then you realized that you have to move again but you don't know when and where you will be move to. Its really stressful.

For the Rockets, everyone is on edge and uncomfortable until after the trading deadline. Being a GM doesn't mean they have to be friends with the players but they have to at least respect them as people not assets. If MOrey keep that up, no players will want to sign here during FA.

Agree 100%. When you get paid millions of dollars you do what your told and keep your mouth shut. Kmart is not Kobe, he has zero say on what the team does.

Carroll Dawson was beloved by his players. Now tell me, whose players played better, Morey's or Dawson's?

The NBA superstar is the rarest commodity in sport. He is more important than a qb or gm.

Mchale's a good character guy & had a great NBA career. All that said, lousy coach. Rotations sucked and overrall coaching down the stretch last year was horrid.

Blake Griffin is in the process of signing a 5 year extension with the Clippers. The Clippers are owned by a known racist. It's not even disputable. He's also legendary for being cheap. He's also a slum lord. If you want to talk about somebody who isn't popular in the league - it's Donald Sterling. And yet the Clippers, after being the worst franchise in all of the history of professional sports over the course of his ownership now have a pretty damned good team. Chris Paul wanted to be traded there. Blake Griffin wants to stay.

Ask me if I care if the players think our GM is a dick because he A.) hired a Hall of Fame player as coach that has a reputation for being a players coach but apparently isn't quite as popular with some of our players as Adelman was B.) attempts to sign them for the best possible contract (which is what a GM is SUPPOSED to do) and C.) is constantly trying to improve our terrible team via trade (which is what a GM is SUPPOSED to do).

If the team were winning and had a direction this would be tolerable by everyone. I doubt his new rookies take a liking to him either. He probably already told Lamb or Royce White they could be on the trading block and not expect to get too comfortable.

And the team made absolutely no progress if not getting worse.

Yeah, we need to be showing love to our players. Like when we signed Cato to a $42m contract after a good preseason game, or like when we gave Moochie Norris a 4 year deal, or when we gave Matt Maloney a long term deal or when we kicked *ss in the draft where we took Dickerson and Bryce Drew over Rashard Lewis

    Mo Taylor anyone?
