Is Morey perfect? No. But its incredibly easy to make anyone look incompetent when you highlight their flaws alone and attribute their success to luck and/or ineptitude by others. As I'll demonstrate below:

Ainge: 5th and 6th picks turned into Jeff Green and Marcus Smart when Joakim Noah and Julius Randle were available, Then traded pre-ACL tear Kendrick Perkins for Jeff Green in a trade that arguably made both teams worse. Only successful because of a magic fluke trade provided by an incompetent GM and owner in BRK. Still riding off the coattails of unintentionally tanking thanks to an injury into trading for two all-stars. Drafted ZERO all-stars.

Meyers/West: Drafted Ekpe Udoh over Paul George and Gordon Hayward, only successful thanks to injuries to star players of their own (low-balling Steph Curry's second contract) and others (Combined eight injured all-stars on opposing teams during their title runs). Relied on a once-in-a-lifetime spike in the salary cap to free a max contract slot.

Ujiri: Terrence Ross over Andre Drummond, Bruno Caboclo over Clint Capela, one conference finals appearance in 11 years, the largest city in the NBA yet can't land any major free agents, Threw away half of the team's youth for what may amount to a rental.

Presti: Traded James Harden instead of Serge Ibaka, got extremely lucky in the draft by receiving 3 top 4 picks in a row, with all the major busts taken by teams ahead of him. Failed to surround KD and Russ with high-quality role players before KD's contract was up. Wasted the prime of two MVPs.
