I don't like James at all. But I'd think there are teams out there who wouldn't mind having him (his contract aside). Quite a few teams don't have decent starting PG or half-decent backup PG.
True, i don't like his attitude, he pisses me off when he talks as if the reason he's not playing no mo is becuz he wasn't given a chance, after playing like crap for a long time. But some team may still need him, he can still play, just not here, not with alston, aaron brooks, and maybe even steve francis competing with him. With his attitude, he already loses before the battle starts. Trade Mike James to whoever
IMO James's contract makes him very difficult to move. However the Hawks are still in desperate need of a PG. Lue is putting up numbers for them maybe James can relive his Toronto glory there? Then again there's James's contract and Atlanta are pretty tight with their salary. http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/hawks/stories/2008/01/21/hawksnot_0122.html http://www.ajc.com/hawks/content/sports/hawks/stories/2008/01/22/hawks_0123.html Zaza Pachulia+Solomon Jones for Mike James This deal saves 1M but since Jones has a non-guaranteed contract they waive him and save 1.7M.
This team needs a 2 guard with some size and that is able to get to the rim and create his own shot. Some names that come to mind that are realistically available are Flip Murray, Wally Szerbiak, Gordon Giriciek, Pietrus, and Gerald Green.
i guess the obsession with artest will never end for some, sorry but the guys a nut job and I'd rather not but that's just me
I think the pressure being applied is overblown. Les probably told Morey to dump contracts if he could. Its no big deal if Morey can't dump contracts nobody wants. I'd would start to worry when we start hearing rumors of giving away one of our assets to entice a team to take a bad contract, ala the spurs with Scola.
Houston could use a decent starting PG. Maybe we could work some deal for Snyder and Novak for him. On second thought I wouldn't do that deal. James' contract sucks.
Our best bet would be Golden State as they have a $10 million TE from the Richardson trade. They need a point guard bad and we have a few too many.
GS have found a backup PG in CJ Watson. Even if they hadn't they wouldn't use their TE on James. Doing so would put them over the luxury tax threshold and they'd want to minimise future salary for the upcoming off-season where they only have 5 players locked in.
I don't mind him saving money if it means he'll invest it back into the team next season. I hope we don't make a save money trade that hurts the team like that Glen Rice trade way back then. I think Morey is going to be a good draft man and hate to pass up 1st rounders.
