Great point. Unless we're not selling tickets nor making money, no point to discuss payroll cut.

If a team is under or at the Lux tax they share in league revenues if they are over, I believe they get penalized greatly.

I don't blame Les one bit for trying to get under the Lux tax....especially for players that are not part of the future.

You still have to pay to have decent backups in case of injury.

Jettising the 14th or 15th man is not a problem.....

Mike James is the goat of choice for the moment. However, IMO, if we even make the playoffs, he will play a major role. He's stewing on the bench now and he plays best with a big chip on his shoulder.

Offing little contracts here and there for draft choices or minor expirings is probably the way Alexander and Morey will go. but we are about $10M over the luxury tax. There is nothing to be done about writing off Butler, Sura, JL3, etc. Next year, however, we are back down to around $63M so it will be easier.

    I proposed this elsewhere:

The Sonics have a trade exception large enough to cover Kirk Snyder. They also can take on his salary without hitting the LT. So the Rockets send Snyder and enough cash to cover his salary for the rest of the year to the Sonics for the Ray Allen TE. Then they can sign Mike Harris to the Rookie Minimum and still sneak in $400K below the luxury tax line.

Last season in Minny wasn't a big enough chip? He still hasn't played all that well this year.

I hope it's not true, but Mike James looks washed up.

why does les even bother with a GM...he could save the money and just do it himself. He seems to force his will anyways

LOL - of course, why would an owner care about the money HIS asset is going to lose?

    That would be silly right?

Sell the team, bring the real Rocket uniforms back. And a real court.

I think that'd be the smartest move and most benificial for the Rockets

i dont know. why would an owner care about a coach who wins with marginal talent but fires for personal differences?

im not even disagreeing with dumping salary, either. At least there is some actual, legitimate, justification for les stepping in here

    The question is:

Does anyone need Mike James though?

I'm not sure anyone needs him.

Les is a ho. First, he's mad at the Rockets and coaching for this very slow start. Well, what the hell do you expect when you change the coach and bring in a whole new system? He's a idiot for expecting instant results. Now he's mad at Morey? What a ho. Les HOlexander.

Tell you what, when you pony up and buy the franchise you can do whatever you want, until then, we are lucky to have a guy that is willing to go into Lux tax land to try to win.

They can just waive Snyder. I think Juwan's expiring contract plus some future picks can get Ron Artest on sale. It would be a steal. But never happened.

a clever retort as always. SO i can only give opinions when i own a basketball team huh  He is willing to pay eh? well apparently not too much if he's begging to dump salary at the signs of a potentially failed season...a failed season due to his interference on matters that are not of his expertise.

Again, I said im all for dumping salary. What I'm not all for is a overly controlling owner who forces his will on matters which he is not the wisest in.

tell you what...when you pony up and tell everyone how apologetic you are for taking the side of a nancy-boy wuss, like v-span, who couldnt hack it and wasnt good enough to earn time on the court...then you can offer basketball advice. :p
