DMorey: Need to do more to overcome hot shooting. Can't give them 2nd chances on their rare misses. Must make it harder in the paint (GS 77% at rim)
Well that's what happens when you're playing a 6'6 guy at center. Said it all night, yes we played no defense but it also hurt that the Warriors seemed to have the rebounding edge.
DMorey: Too many mental errors to beat a solid team.Poor shot selection&gave in on D w/fouls&off reb.We have strong competitors who will bounce back
Problems on the defensive boards has been a common theme for all three games. Maybe the Rockets should set that as their first priority. Brooks and Martin need to help out more in that area.
DMorey: Need consistent play throughout game.Did not knock down open looks.Could not secure rebound at key moments.Early offense struggled to finish
XD =d... Its cool..I like to brighten things up a bit after streams of seriousness. That post was actually an accurate representation of my thought process after I read that tweet.
"-bench got beat up." There's your elephant. Morey pegged it square on the nose. Look, Ish is a good looking rookie, but he had his head handed to him last night. There's a reason why they didn't go back to him.
Bench got beat up in 2nd quarter, but sometimes the bench getting beat up includes a lot of starters too...like Lowry & Miller at the start of the 4th last night. They needed a break.....and Ish made two terrible turnovers, then a very nice pass to Miller, and was promptly subbed out....sometimes you got to let your players play through their mistakes. Rick, does that with veterans, but for some reason has a really short leash with Ish and Hill in particular. Got to let them grow Rick ! DD
I am beginning to think Rick may not be the best coach for this particular team. Guy is a GREAT coach but this is a pretty young team and those young guys are going to be asked to play important roles. No reason not to play Bud, Hill and Ish more time and let them struggle a bit but, like you said, let them play through their mistakes.
The Rockets essentially lost the game in the first four minutes of the fourth quarter, when Luis Scola WAS resting. Take a look at Scola's plus/minus from last night (+23). That's right, PLUS-FREAKIN'-23 in a LOSS. That doesn't happen very often. The Bulls played great defense, so I'll tip my cap to them. And Rose was unstoppable in the fourth quarter. I don't think anyone could have held him in check. It was just a perfect storm for Chicago, especially for that four-minute stretch. While Bogans and Brewer both played great defense on Kevin Martin last night, my one qualm with the Rockets was that they didn't seem to try hard enough to get Martin the ball when they clearly were unable to get anything going. About three possessions into the fourth quarter, it became abundantly clear that--with Scola on the bench--the Rockets needed to just give Martin the ball and get the hell out of his way. Instead, Kyle Lowry dribbled around, or Lowry and Miller held the ball looking for an open man (of which there were none, due to great Chicago defense) and then Lowry had to throw up late shots at the end of the shot clock. DD, I know you'll love this: If the Rockets had a healthy Aaron Brooks last night, they win that game. (No one was stopping Rose, so Brooks's defensive deficiencies would not have made a tremendous difference in the outcome.) But they didn't. So they didn't win.
True, true....but now maybe all the people that think Lowry is some shut down defending PG will come into the light..... Nah...never happen. DD
