I think Morey meant it was a matter of time Denver took control because they were dominating the paint, not because Denver is inherently better.
I don't think that's what he meant. The Rockets were on fire from 3, and they still couldn't maintain a lead. Usually when they shoot the 3 ball well, they have a comfortable lead. That means they were playing very poorly in other areas, and it caught it up with us by the 4th quarter.
It is a matter of which team could sustain what they are doing well. As far as I can tell (antecdotally, no stats to really back it up yet) it seems that generally, unusually hot shooting is less sustainable than unusually high advantage in rebounds, especially when the latter is caused by a real physical advantage and the former is not resulting from unusually wide open shots.
That's right. Us playing the Nuggets closely through 3 quarters was a mirage. The 3-pointer is an important weapon for us, but we can't rely exclusively on it to win games. Have to rebound and defend, and you can't put the other team on the free throw line 40 times either.
You are taking the word 'inevitable' too literally to be meaningful in the context of the current conversation. A team can be so much better than another, just by their talent/skill level, that there is a very high probability they'll win. Or, within a particular game, the way one team is playing can be so superior to the way another team is playing that there is a very high probability they'll win. When Morey says it was a matter of time that Denver would win the game, he meant the latter.
I agree his response is very telling. He sounds frustrated and expected to lose with the effort that was put out.
Morey won't concede the season, I agree, but in most of his tweets there seems to be some solution or advice his tends to offer. In this tweet he basically expected their faith, as if there wasn't ANYTHING they could do to counter their advantage. If this was the Lakers, Spurs, Heat or Celtics I could understand but this is a direct competitor and not an elite team by any means. If he expected their faith for this game, not sure how different it will be down the road when we play bigger more athletic teams.
dmorey: Aldridge tonight unfortunately reminded me of @YaoMing 4/18/09 @POR.Our 3pt shooting kept gm close, an 8 TO edge near impossible to overcome
Yep, Portland with only 6 turnovers allowing only 7 points off of them; Houston with 16 TOs allowed 23 pts off them.
dmorey: Important division gm vs NOH. Chuck&Kevin back will help. The @Klow7/Kevin/Shane/@LScola4/Chuck lineup has been strong.Hope to see you at TC

I don't want him to host a conference. I want him to spend 150 % of his time on that blockbuster deal we are all waiting for .
I'm a little underwhelmed by his last two tweets. Not that I expected breaking news or something dramatic. Quite a bit of Morey bashing has gone on and it wouldn't surprise me if he's seen it. They seem very to the point with less emotion than usual. Maybe it's just me, i don't know. I've missed the after game analysis though. Busy or something else to it?
dmorey: Great performances by @Thirty2zero/@jordanchill43/Chuck. Two critical home games coming up. Thankfully, all appears OK with @pdpatt.
