Patterson's coming out reminded me of that Landry game. Carl just came off the bench out of nowhere. Found the thread from that game. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=140705&page=26&pp=20
and even though it hurts me so much to say this...this is the right direction for the Rockets. Backup PF's are not our priority.
For as much as I appreciate Landry, it's the right decision. I also believe Patterson will be the better all around player.
I wanted Scolandry back even with Luis' improved scoring. I no longer feel that way. PP has had one solid game and has a long way to go,but he is starting to show genuine promise.
Landry had/has as much heart as any Rocket player that I witnessed for the past 25 years. Dude literally bled Rockets red. But....he was an undersized PF who has serious problems in the rebounding dept. Unlike Landry, Patterson has good height for a PF at 6'9". Unlike Hill who needs to add weight, Patterson is built like a tank and likes to play physical. In short, Patterson has all physical tools. All he needs is NBA experience and refine his game in the offseason to be a starting PF in the league. Prediction: In 3 years time, when Patterson is just shy of his 25th birthday ( he is young!), Pattrick's career will be far ahead of Hill's.
This this just means dmorey needed a 1st rounder to replace what we had in a 2nd...or he can find 1st round talent in the 2nd round. I'll go with the latter which is pretty impressive.
Except Landry was deficient in defense and rebounding. Size was what dropped him to the second round, and heart was what he used to make up for it. As his Sacramento days have shown, however, heart won't be able to overcome being undersized forever, especially if you're on a bad team. Landry still does and probably will always have a better outside shot than Patterson, but offense is something I think this Rockets team has enough of. We need more "two-way players" as Morey calls em. Patterson is a keeper in this regard.
dmorey: we would like fans to give warm welcome 2 newest addition to Carmelo Anthony. We can only dream, right?
Lol where did this come from? 1. Nuggets want too much for him... We could get him, but then he would be the only one here. 2. Morey wouldn't have to ask everyone to give him a warm welcome if we got him and actually had a team to surround him with

dmorey: Denver dominated the paint on both ends. Brad/Kyle kept us in the game -- it was just a matter of time before they took control.
This concerns me a great deal, the Nuggets aren't the Lakers or Spurs, they are one of our direct competitors and for them to dominate any aspect, let alone one of the more important ones, is a major red flag. Morey's response worries me a whole lot about the remainder of the season.
It should concern you, but why does Morey's response worry you? He was just stating a fact. In that game, the Nuggets dominated the paint. Morey's not conceding the season or anything.
Usually when we lose, Morey tweets what we needed to do and where we fell short, as if our players are capable of playing better. Here he basically concedes the loss was inevitable. And if he's conceding to a team like Denver, he's effectively conceding the season if the roster doesn't change.
