Solid point. Hill/Bud from Arizona and Cousins/Patterson Kentucky something else. Iguodala came from Arizona.
Did Morey actually tweet again or has this become just another thread where people have pointless arguments with one another?
Yeah, I could like a frontline with DeMarcus Cousins. We need a young big athletic center very very much. BMiller and CHayes will knock some sense into him. Are we willing to give up AB for him though? First of all, I don't see how AB and Tyreke Evans can actually play together. As I said last season, the Kings have a problem with their coaching.
Les Alexander must have finally said something, like I'll cut the budget for your statistics people, since it's taking the team nowhere. Heck, fans have been in pain since we went 0-5, losing that won game vs. San Antonio. It quickly settles in that this year, we have become irrelevant in this league, virtually invisible. No one talks about us, except us.
On a change of possession on a defensive rebound, kinda a formality that the point guard receives the ball 95% of the time anyways, so whats the big difference between a big giving it to him and the guard getting it himself. Thats how I used to justify Steve Francis getting boards at least, even if he was obstructing rather than it being helpful
The pg is usually further from the ring than the big men, so if your pg is a proficient rebounder most of the rebounds he's getting are ones that have bounced too far for your big men to get. As durvasa already said the pg getting boards is a bit more useful than the big man getting the boards, because then the pg can initiate the fast break without wating for the big man to hand him the ball first.
Morey hosts the Sports Analytics conference which makes him like The Quant Master. But during the last one, if you listened to him you'd see that its Morey himself who seems to cast the most doubt on the true REAL life applicability of the numbers. And its Mark Cuban who is WAY more gung-ho about the stats approach using them as the new gospel.
the ariza trade is looking like the move that put a biggus holeus in the ship. lee's been a zero. bud not living up to the expectations the rockets held when they freed minutes for him by trading ariza. had those two guys played better, the rockets win a few more games.
If you have a PG with the mindset to push the ball, that can save you a couple seconds on the shot-clock. That's significant, especially if you're looking to get something in early offense.
This is what is funny to me, we are trying to get early offense yet we are surrounding Kyle with Shane and Hayes.... They need another wing that can run with him, like CBud... Lowry is not good in the half court, he is easily countered, he is very good in transition, so why do they put guys that are terrible in transition around him? DD
I was at the game last night, and I was very tired of seeing Shane be the first one down the court but making a bee-line for his spot in the corner. Also, watching Miller make passes that "throw guys open" for layups is great to see live!
I dont know what you have been watching but Lee has been "okay" and Ariza has been terrible. They freed up minutes for Battier, because he is a far more effective player than Ariza is. I challenge you to take a gander at Hornet fan forums and see how they feel about Ariza. Heck even the national media is taking attention to how terrible he has been. Ariza being here doesnt make AB healthy, Scola play better, or Budinger actually hit his shots. All three of which were a significant contribution to last years success.
I think Morey works harder or as hard as any GM in the league as far as researching talent and analysis of the game. The fact of the matter is that this is a rebuilding year. Nobody likes to lose... especially the GM when he pours his heart into putting as much talent on the floor as he can. We have so much young talent, but so does everybody else. Fortunately, Morey has planned for this and landed an extra first rounder for next year, although it will probably be a middle 1st round pick. You know he's working the phones hard to squeeze as much value out of our expirings as he can. This is including Battier and Jeffries. If there is a superstar on the block, he will probably throw everything he can at it.
Just to clarify that pick is for the year after next. Next year all we can do is switch picks with the Knicks who are looking very playoff bound at this point...so no value. Won't come here as long as Yao is a prominent figure on the team... DD
I meant the following year. We will have 3 1st round picks in the next 2 years. 1 this year (the best draft spot between either us and NY) and 2 the following year.
