Could it be, perhaps, just speculating, that it was the Raptors management who arranged for the meeting. Per the Chron, DM didn't even know where Bosh was until a few hours before the meeting was set. Could the Rockets and Raptors have made a "framework for a deal" before the meeting with Bosh was arranged?
It's been an exciting first couple of hrs. Got some interesting visits and presentations from Houston, Toronto, Chicago and Miami. We'll see who else will come out tomorrow. Four presentations in the first few hours. I hope Morey was convincing.
Actually, I'd trust Morey to build a perennial contender around Bosh and co. more than I would Pat Riley. But the championship mystique of Wade/Riley/Miami is probably hard to resist.
Bosh has 6 years in the NBA, so he can start at 25% of the cap, or $14 million. If he had 7 years, it'd be 30%, or $16.8 million. 10.5% raises thereafter.
Larry Coon (the NBA salary cap expert) clarified this point: http://espn.go.com/nba/dailydime/_/page/dime-freeagency-100629/cap-room-summary
If you're gonna compare the two scenarios at least list both good and bad. Bosh would be getting paid for an extra year here in Houston. Not to mention the Heat would still have below average supporting cast aside from Wade. I think you underestimate the value of having a complete team. Bosh and Wade are good but they're no Kobe and Shaq circa early 2000s.
Bosh is probably coming he knows he can win here and he won't have to be the man and he doesn't want to be the franchise player he wants to be an all star. He doesn't have to be the franchise here.
That 50M was for his club in Japan not Boras. I think Matsuzaka was still under contract for Seibu at the time.
Why he should okay the S&T to Houston. It's a win-win for both franchises with the young talent and draft picks Toronto will receive.
We can ggive them alot of things. Porbably the Knicks picks our next years pick and some young guys like Patterson and then Battier and someone else to match contracts. Maybe throw in Hill and we have a deal done. I dont think we need to include Martin or Brooks to make it a real good deal for Toronto.
From Jonathan Feigan's latest blog entry on the meeting. "He met with Bosh late Wednesday into early Thursday in Dallas and got to make his case about why he believes Bosh can win championships in Houston. He did not know if the meeting would happen until well into the evening. He did not even know where Bosh was until then. Once they were together, however, he found Bosh to be interested and ready with questions that indicated he would definitely consider the option." Sorry for the double post, but according to Feigan, Houston, Chicago, and Miami ALL have worked out sign-and-trade scenerios that Toronto is willing to accept. Which means now it's really just about which team Bosh wants to play for more.
Realistically no other team can offer more money. No other team can win bigger with him. No other team offers him the world stage with such a great supporting cast.. The Rockets fans are waiting for you eagerly. Join the Championship team here.
Any team can offer him as much money if they work out a sign and trade. Chicago has a great supporting cast, and Miami has Wade, Riley and south beach. I think we are in the running, but i wouldn't call us the favorites however... We have the wizard on our side, I put nothing past Morey.
