BPA works if you have a GM who can somewhat accurately assess who is the BPA. For example, I have always wished Rick Smith would draft for need, because I don't have confidence he can spot the BPA. If the pick is a crapshoot, why not take a chance on a position of need?
Interesting observation about First off, we don't even know if we will have Pat. Plus he has only played 56 games the past two seasons. In fact, he has never played a full season (first year of course he came in mid year). And... it was clear his performance level last year was disappointing. Add to that Terry is really on the far downhill and is best considered a backup #2, and Nick Johnson hasn't shown anything to suggest he is anything other a really small #2 that is struggling to find his shot, and well, hence my belief that we don't have a point guard on the roster. But getting past that, I decided to look at the best PGs drafted after #17. You have Parker and Barbarosa at #28, Lowry and Cassell at #24, Nixon and Skiles at #22, Rondo at #21, Strickland at #19. OK, so not a large number of names. But would we want any of them on our current roster (natch, in their primes)? So lets look at #18: Lawson, Bledsoe, Eric Mobley, Mark Jackson, and BJ Armstrong. And would we want any of them? Again, IMWT... but, I just hope I don't see an injured Beverley and ancient Terry and Prigioni listed at PG for us next year.
I like the picks but tonight was about adding pieces that will likely help in 2016. Still wondering what's going to be done about shooting and creating for others. Golden State had deep roster flexibility but they can shoot and create. The Rockets aren't there yet.
This is about next year. I doubt any rookie pgs not taken in the top 10 have had significant impacts on their teams in their first season. As far as bev, yes he might not be back, but in the sense of trying to address the position you can get bev/terry/whatever filler fa can give you similar production next year. Rather draft value and address PG via a veteran
Morey didn't say that. OP is just trying to interject his opinion as if it is somehow connected to Moreys thoughts. The fact is Morey has a plan for PG. He realizes this team needs a major upgrade and will address the pg spot this of season. Let me repeat Mory has a plan for a starting PG. The OP has his own opinion but it is not related to Morey.
