Sounds like Brooks might be gone next year. That is, if we pull off the obvious Bosh/Amare/Boozer deal.
Obviously Morey is looking into the future. Scola is a way better compliment to Yao than Landry. Lowry is a stud PG and might even take over the starting PG spot from Aaron since he might compliment Kevin Martin better.
Does anyone think It might get too expensive to retain Lowry and Scola? If you think about it, theres going to be several teams with the significant capspace to sign free agents.(I think its somewhere between 8-9). I'm pretty sure one of the big three (Bosh\Wade\Lebron) will be staying with their own teams and thats going to leave teams with a lot of cash to throw around, but nobody to spend it on. I could see some desperate teams try to pry away either Scola or Lowry by over paying by a million or two.
I made it for the rest of us who didn't know for sure if Les Alexander would be willing to pay the luxury tax to keep both Scola and Lowry. Next time, I'll cite your prophecy as my source - thanks for the input!
This is Morey prepping all the other GM's out there to back off of any high offers this summer with the threat of matching any offer that comes over on Scola and Landry or he will tie up their money if they attempt a run at them. Morey is always playing his cards at the right time!!
Sounds to me that Morey is sayin "stay away from my guys" than anything else. It's obvious that his main goal is to resing them using their restrictions as main bargain chip. With Landry gone, Scola numbers are likely going to go up, so it was a no brainer to say otherwise. Anyways it's good to see some love for Scola after the small ammount of votes he got for the Allstar (compared to the usual so-so Rox players that get a lot), seems to me that there is some hate for him with no real reason. The guy just shuts up and plays hard.
Is this something he should put out? Would other teams challenge that and try to make us pay more then intended?
