So if this is true then we can't aggregate Kelly in trade until 90 days. Is that correct? If it is then it doesn't have anything to do with a deal being done SOON like bima was suggesting was possible. Maybe a deal agreed to using Kelly's contract later. Because if you can't aggregate Kelly's contract it's useless for trade purposes unless we know another team wants him.
All five non-guaranteed players (Liggins, Hilliard, Kelly, Quarterman and Long) were acquired with CAP ROOM, not the Minimum Player Salary Exception. I'm pretty sure spotrac may be off if they have it otherwise. Therefore, each of those players could (and still can be) aggregated in trades immediately. heyp is correct that there is no more KJ TPE. Also, point of clarification on my "TPE" tweet: I was slightly off in my calculation of the (virtual) TPE if Onuaku is included. It is not "over $12M". I believe ch44 had the correct figure of "about $11.8 million". I get $11,827,674 by my figures. (I accidentally used the 175%+$100k rule instead of the X+$5M rule applicable to matching salaries in that range.)
Me neither. Coon hasn't released a new FAQ, and I haven't bothered to locate/download the full text...nor really care to read it right now....would take another DMo's Rights episode to get me to download it...lulz . I'm just picking up stuff that is Rockets-related. btw: 175% is just for non-tax paying teams. 150% still remains for tax payers. I think so, but don't quote me on that. Only the 175% change for non-taxpayers is listed here (which most comprehensive list of changes that I've seen) http://nba.nbcsports.com/2017/01/20...the-nbas-new-collective-bargaining-agreement/
thx for clarification. Maybe spotrac just carried over the state of signing from the previous team....so, it's wrong for us.
Isn't there a time frame these contracts have to be flipped again or we have to wait an extended period of time?
Could we do a 3 way with minny and knicks diverting ng contracts to minny and Rubio and pieces to knicks to help free them up for a pg and some how getting a pick to ny to get a good trade chip. Just thinking Rubio could be involved somehow
Thanks much. I was originally thinking those had to be under the cap moves since we aggregated some of them for Paul. But Morey's TPE comment threw me off combined with still playing by the old 150% rule. Then I was wondering if Morey found another loophole regarding acquiring minimum salaries while technically under the cap but operating over the cap. Would've been very sneaky. I think Morey is going to acquire more of these, maybe even a couple after the moratorium. But they'll likely be more expensive then.
Can't see that one right now with the uncertainty over Hayward possibly leaving. Maybe later in the summer.
The Pacers have 2 guys making about $10M or $11M next year: Monta Ellis, Al Jefferson. Maybe the non-guaranteed will be offered to eat one of their contracts as a part of a Paul George trade.
Let's just wait and see about that. The Warriors have more than half the teams in the league ******** themselves. I'm not sure teams are going to be as crazy to pay top dollar for players they know won't get them a shot at even a conference finals. A lot of team will just look to go young and wait for an opening in 2019
For those wondering how Morey spent his $3.5m in Cash Considerations to generate this $9.75m "TPE", and this counts the trade kicker bonus he had to pay Paul. That's some impressive value conversion for using cash considerations -- a little under 7:1 trade value to cash (discounted the trade kicker amount paid to Paul).
Since it resets tonight, he's only got a few hours left to spend it ... so things could be heating up, still.
