Use the TPE to take a small salary from another team to open up their cap space so they can absorb Anderson for nothing. Maybe Minnesota...
i dont understand how... we got back more than we gave out by taking on CP's contract. how does the wizard do this?!
So that explains all of the non-guaranteed player signings this morning before making the CP3 deal. Man this guy knows how to work the system. Looks like the new CBA will eliminate a lot of that too so he got it in just in time. Now we sit back and see what good players we can build out the squad with. We have A LOT of options and all of them will be good ones. I'm sure a couple people want to come here now.
Teams cannot use trade exceptions to sign free agents; they can be used only to acquire existing contracts from other teams. However, a team can acquire a free agent using a trade exception if he is signed by his prior team and traded in a sign-and-trade transaction. A trade exception cannot be combined with another player or exception to acquire a more expensive player – To me, the easiest way to think about each trade exception is as a bank account that you cannot add money back into. You can take some out here and there as long as the balance never gets below zero. The important difference from a bank account is the separation – trade exceptions are each separate assets that can only acquire a player or players who make the same amount or less than the value of that specific exception itself plus $100,000. A $10 million TPE and a $5 million player or exception cannot be used in concert to get a $14 million player, for example. This same logic applies to all exceptions, so teams cannot combine their Mid-Level and a player to get someone for more money or add two trade exceptions together to pick up a player with a higher salary than either one.
What do you think other GMs perception of Morey? Do you think they're just like "Yo Adam is this **** even allowed?"
I think someone misunderstood. The MLE and the Bi-annual equal approximately $11 million. Not a TPE generated with the trade.
No he was was very clear about it being a TPE that could be used to get a player for about $12 million. He said it multiple times and specifically said they structured the multiple deals today to generate a tpe
QUICKKKKKK Someone make a list of all the players making $10-11 million in salary this coming year.!!
I live with a mavs fan from Dallas and keep updated him on this morey wizard **** and he's just talking **** about Cuban for giving parsons the match
is 2PAT a FA? he seems like more of an MLE signing. i think there's better players you can get for a TPE, although i haven't checked. regardless he's definitely gonna be on our radar
I think you're right. I think people are just misunderstanding the TPE, with a small chance the the new CBA changed things and nobody here discussed that change.
Can the TPE be used if it involves multiple teams? For example if they were looking to get Hayward from the Jazz while looking to offload Anderson and NG's to a third team, who then would give assets that Utah may covet? Phx, Phili look really interesting if that is the case...hmm
