Well your guess would be wrong. No one will pay Yao huge money as gamble that he can be a major piece to success. Seriously, if you're building a contender would you offer big money to someone who's been injured 4 out of the 5 seasons? No one is that stupid, not even Chris Wallace. If they offer Yao the max, its because they believe Yao will recoup them the $$$ back. I don't know why everyone's fixated on Chenjy's "big dumb troll" comment, its his opinion and while mine is different, I don't think he needs to have everyone gunning for him like this. People call tmac maclady, mclazy or t-vag all the time, and no one questions wether they are ashamed of being black , not even the most die hard TOFS. The fact is Chenjy's post is legit, Yao is indeed injury prone, and he has indeed never carried the team in the playoffs even once, despite being the so-called "franchise" player of this team. Whether Yao is a Chinese ambassador or not is beside the point, in basketball terms Yao as a franchise player is a failure, same as with Tmac.
doesn't he keep on committing stupid mistakes repeatedly then hit his own head? not rebounding the ball, not making sure to have 2pts by going hard to the basket than a soft layup, travelling, 3-second violation, getting the ball stolen from him, etc...
Don't mind him, actually I met several people like him who like to be overly harsh on own race just to impress. Pretty much due to inferiority complex. I have to say most of those people are from the race that used to be being oppressed. When I meet those people, I would just laugh at them and walk away shaking my head. In this case, I would just put him in my ignore list, easy and simple.
That's a glass half full or half empty argument what too many variables. If folks on here are serious about results then Yao has not lived up to (on the court) what the team is paying him for. These sound more like excuses. Using what others have said on here, this is a what have you done for me lately league or things to the sort and what has he really done come playoffs (not finished). Yao when healthy and properly given chances to operate can be a force and an asset to the team; but with the current stance on who can help the team win then Chenjy9 has some good points. No matter how special Yao is basketball wise doesn't matter if he isn't playing basketball.
While all that is true, I would attribute it more to his physical limitations. His size, physical limitations, and slow reaction make him think too much. He is a good student of the game but its not easy for him to apply it on the court.
There were also times that Yao was lost more than DD flying to Greece trying to find V-Span.... This team has blossom without T-Mac or Yao and the writing is on the wall that it's time to move forward without either... They take up too much cap space and stay on the injured reserve list more than the active list...
I am overly harsh in thinking an injury prone player is overpaid? Man you are more idiotic than the previous hater.
Why? Because is doesn't make any freakin' sense. Big Dumb Troll would describe someone who posts simply to piss people off, not Yao Ming. Want to trade him because of his injury history? Because you don't think he fits the offense any longer? Fine. That is a legitimate argument. Big Dumb Troll is just trying to get people pissed off, in my opinion, besides being nonsensical.
People can hate on my post as much as they won't as words on a bbs won't actually hurt me, though I will admit that big dumb troll is probably too harsh. I like Yao as a person as he is honorable, charismatic, and classy. As a player that injury prone at 16 mil a year though, that is something I don't like at all. I have had people insult me on a personal level, yet not one person can offer anything to prove my posts aren't legit.
I justified why i think he is dumb and the troll thing is really an inside joke with me and my friends. It was probably inappropriate on this forum and I apologize for that. However, my arguements of why I don't like him is valid and legit. I do like antagonizing YOF's though.
I hear ya but like someone else pointed out, this BBS is laced with name calling. What makes this so much different than the other times (Ariza, Brooks, Andersen, You-Know-Who and etc.)? When reading posts on here there tends to be a sifting-through process concerning negativity in posts.
That was actually my fault I made a rash comment about Yao that was partially based on my feelings as well as an inside joke and a few while expressing my discontent that Rox will probably never let him go and people took offense. I offered my arguement and then things spiraled downhill from there it seems, as more people tried to flame me for it.
Well this is the Rockets forum and there are plenty of irrational fans, try something like suggesting Landry is not an All-star, you will get flamed in about 30 seconds.
If Landry, Brooks, or Scola is included you can be certain superstars are incoming. There's no way any of those guys leave without a SERIOUS haul. If they do...depression will set in.
just means he is slow and clumsy. a common trait amongst big men and he is the biggest (or tallest rather). doesnt mean he doesnt know how to play the game.
One person is untouchable.... <a href="http://media.photobucket.com/image/mc hammer/RedDragon575/MC-Hammer.gif?o=4" target="_blank"><img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg256/RedDragon575/MC-Hammer.gif" border="0"></a>
