Morey refers to Beverley as starter, Gordon as 'supersub'

I don't think they ever considered starting Gordon

if Gordon is as effective as we hope then he will be closing games. thats all that matters...

 

It makes perfect sense; there are plenty of minutes off the bench. Despite what Pringles said about him playing 123, he's a 2; that's pretty much what he is. Positionless basketball does not apply. He's a 2. So he gets Harden's bench minutes and Harden moves over to the 3 sometimes, and the 1 other times. Gordon will get at least 28 off the bench.

 

Basketball is about matchups not positions; I get the best group of players possible and the COACH makes that group into a team. Try saying something along this lines, DM.

Gordon is very injury prone. Bench might be better for now.

 

I think there will be many scenarios where Harden is actually the 1 and Gordon plays the 2.

 

Actually Gordon will most probably get injured running onto the court during the first preseason game. He'll pull a groin muscle tripping over the 3 pt line.

Morey didn't specify whether Clint or Nene would start, as I remember. He also said there are "other guys" he thinks can make the team in camp. Plans aren't cemented.

As far as Beverley and Gordon he is probably just saying what he sees as obvious.

Is he/him Gordon or Harden? Any combo gaurd can play both the 1 & 2. All three (Beverley, Harden & Gordon) are combo gaurds. Any of the three can and should play together with success.
