Morey refers to Beverley as starter, Gordon as 'supersub'

What are MDA's plans? When has he so definitively stated who will be the starting PG? Are you saying MDA told Morey to say that for the benefit of Bev's psyche, to allow MDA plausible deniability later.

The problem with Morey is that while his intention is rarely to tell the truth, he always wants to sell the truth. In this situation other teams are calling his bluff and would be ecstatic if they decide to run James as a point guard or to continue starting Beverley.

Because if we rolled out the ball tomorrow, this is who would start. We can't bench Bev when we're trying to trade him.

Talk from Morey doesn't mean anything right now. It's trading season. He can't give anything away. So Bev is our starter because he was our starter in the last game we played. Hey, Morey can say we're going to experiment with Ariza at the 5 and then trade him 24 hours later. All he's gotta say then is, "duh, we really like Ariza but we couldn't pass up this trade opportunity."

Morey's public dialogue doesn't mean much right now. Watch what happens. Know we are not a championship contender so we have to work to add pieces still around James. And watch what happens.

Not really sure what you are trying to say.

If you are trying to say that Morey's statement will help him in trades...I ain't buying it. If it is a needless statement which you indeed say "doesn't mean much right now," why say it? It's not your job. Let Coach decide when and how to breach that subject with the media.

    very simple.

It's like cfnet site has completely lost sight of one of our biggest organizational weaknesses is not allow Coach to coach. And y'all have convinced yourself Morey can say anything he wants, when he wants.

Not saying this is a big faux pas or anything. But I could see some coaches being annoyed by it. I just don't understand why Morey talks like this...or why any GM would.

If bev starts I doubt he will play starters minutes.

Either way though, I expect the offense to be much more efficient this coming year. A coach with an actual system and more importantly having everyone on the same page.

I don't know mate. I think it's far more reasonable to say they've discussed it internally before he said this.

This was more in response to everyone crying "Oh great Morey is calling all the shots and not letting the coach do his job!"

Especially when, during the interview, Morey heaped praise on MDA and pretty well intimated this is the coach they always wanted for 'the system', but who wasn't available in previous times of hiring....

Morey has been the de facto coach since Van Gundy left. First Morey thought he could get by with the x's and o's coaching acumen of a monkey and now he knows he needs an actual coach for during the games when actual strategy is called for on the floor. No matter how much Moreyball you prepare your players with you need someone who can make decisions on the floor. It's one of the huge flaws in Moreyball.

Morey rambles on and on because he likes to talk in the media. It's gone to his head. Bholic is right.

That's exactly like Morey wants it. He doesn't want people to be sure what he is trying to say. Because he's trying to say nuth'n while yakking his gobbler off.

I would love it if someone - heyp, clutch, r2k, whoever - could find that old Sam Cassell Subway commercial from the 90's.

[show highlights of Sam] Sam says "That's not a supasub, THIS is a supasub!" [holds up footlong Subway]

This was always obvious. Priggy Smalls is the 3rd stringer. We never needed a 20mpg+ point guard like the GARM kept saying

His words were very clear, it's even in the title thread Bev is the starter, Gordon is the super sub.

You're the person posting **** up and then blaming it all on Morey. Just because Morey is the one who said it means he calls the shots on coaching? Because we all know MDA is an extremely introverted, inexperienced and unknown coach who will do anything Morey tells him to, right? Because Morey is so powerful and has so much influence right now that Les Alexander does everything Morey recommends, he is totally in the apex of his power and can tell the coach what to do, right?

Why don't you post some evidence to back up your claims? You got nuth'n but still keep yakking your gobbler off.

then there's harden's body giving up on him in game 4 after doing all the work on offense for two straight seasons including playoffs.

    game 5 starting lineup
    priggs

The "meaningless" preseason hasn't started and Morey already meddling and making trade threats. Keep that streak alive Morey.
