The thing that bugs me about Morey is he keeps saying stuff and no reporter ever calls him on it, no one ever asks the tough questions.

He talks about how he prefers to have "High upside" guys on the bench, and for once, I want someone to say..."WHO?"

Who does he consider to be HIGH UPSIDE on the Rockets bench?

Because to most fans he has compiled a bench of good solid role players - with very little upside.

The only guy that I think the Rockets control that MIGHT develop into a star player is D-Mo, and that is a big big....reach.

So, where are all these high upside guys...and why won't someone call Morey on the propaganda he spews?

Don't know, but for the current roster maybe he's thinking of Greg Smith and Marcus Morris. Terrence Williams might have qualified at some point, but evidently that ship has sailed.

This is all well and good, but it sounds like something McHale and others are saying: It's conventional wisdom.

Saying you "prefer" high upside doesn't mean you can demonstrate having the top upside players on the bench in the league It's like him saying "I prefer superstars," but not having one, and you wanting to call him on that, as if he doesn't prefer superstars. He can still prefer it, without having it.

Upside is typically mentioned in contrast to known-value vets. Like Gay vs Battier.

I would say that the mere fact he is collecting a lot of draft picks and 2009 lotto picks, rather than trading picks for known-value vets (like we did in the JVG / RA era), shows he is looking for young players with upside vs accumulating known value.
