Great idea...trade a franchise player when he is injured and won't get you hardly anything in return. Also, please point us to your past posts where you were calling for Yao to be traded? Thanks in advance.
I honestly think I would have been satisfied with the trades we made only if Portland didn't get Gerald Wallace for jack shh. I'm bitter and jealous.
Seeing as how there is no search here that is impossible. But I have been calling for Yao to be traded ever since I started posting. That was in 2007.
I really respect Morey. You can tell that he has tried everything to get that "big" deal done. Dude probably hasn't slept in days. Every single one of his responses was candid and honest. Basically, we traded Battier and Brooks not because we don't think they are good players, but because there was a high chance that we would have lost them in free agency for nothing, because we were not going to pay them as much as they are realistically expected to command in the market. Considering those circumstances, I say we did as well as we possibly could. Right now is not the most exciting time to be a Rocket fan, but better times will come. What I liked to hear was that the team will try to bring Shane back in the off-season (even though he thinks that other teams will probably have more to offer).
Excellent post, Jackie. I hope I feel the same way tomorrow. ;-)- Seriously, nice post. Count me as one of those hoping we can manage to resign Shane this summer.
It was a lousy and very disappointing trade deadline. We didn't get much for what we gave up. Morey did not accomplish what he set out to accomplish. The team is mediocre and Morey has had ample time to improve it. Taken individually, he has made some nice moves, but he hasn't gotten the job done and the excuses are starting to get old.
maybe it's just me, but between Dragic & Thabeet i can't tell which one is supposed to be the savior "impact player" from the idea that DM was trying to sell to the fans earlier in the season?!
Aww, how cute. And I bet you actually thought others would have been stupid enough to trade something valuable for this $18 million player you deemed worthless, am I right?
Its 2 seasons and the ROckets are basically still in the same position they were in last season. Last season they somewhat step forward a bit with the Martin and Hill trade but this year has been a big disappointment. Morey said this trade helps better our position for the future but I've heard this already... This talk about better our position for the future stuff is starting to get old. I mean I keep hearing it, waited, and splash, we just got back two average players that best case senario are maybe NBA starters one day. Thabeet has size but the man has no game. Dragic is a good backup PG but again, he's just another backup. I was hoping Yao's contract was dealt but I guess we're keeping him and most likely resigning Yao Ming and go through that same injury cycle all over again. Maybe all of the Gms in the NBA called each other and warned each other about not making deals with Morey because he was tricky... Maybe thats why Morey couldn't pull off a trade.
When Morey was hired, we had 1 superstar, because Yao and Tmac are both half a superstar so together they make one... Now, we have none.
