SMH, do you ever get tired of being so wrong all the time? Morey offered Smith the most money along with offering the best fit and the best role on the best team. Unfortunately Josh Smith is a total moron so he signed for less to get benched by Doc. It's not Morey's fault that Josh Smith is stupid.
I thought it had something to do with Josh being told he had to wait to sign until after KJ decided or something and he felt undervalued.
Clipper fans were wondering why Doc didn't play Cole Aldridge. Blake and Deandre out, no problem. They are playing better ball with Josh on the bench or playing very little. Josh screwed up.. With the Rockets he could jack up as many 3s as he wanted, Play make as much as he wanted.
Morey was too honest. He told Josh he didn't have a defined role since TJ and DMo were coming back. Should have lied like Doc.
I think he helps this team, We win more games, he adds length, adds rebounding, adds passing, but helps in all the wrong ways. So we either go Buffy the Vampire Slayer route and hope for the best doing it all wrong, or we try to fix this thing.
Lol, yeah... And then DMo and TJ dropped the ball... Haha, I mean I know DMo/Morey didn't know about the back injury being as hard as it has been to recover... But TJ over Smith.... come on Morey. Jones sometimes does some good things, but honestly with Smith starting to get more used to the Rockets, I am surprised they couldn't at least have him ahead of some of the garbage play TJ sometimes does... Yes, I know Smith has some bad habits, but if rockets didn't have Smith last year no way tj helps take rockets to wcf. Smith can actually pass the ****ing ball, unlike tj
Hell at this point, I'd almost prefer to run Smith over Brewer's trash play lately... I mean it didn't work in Detroit, but... It's still a hell of a lot better than Brewer this season. I mean you want to talk about bad contracts, Lol, not only did Morey let Smith go, he signed Brewer who has regressed to D-League level play. I don't hate our gm but **** man... ****ing Brewer/KJ over Smith, lol. Here's how the negotiations probably went (hell this is the actual transcript): M: Josh, I need you to wait for our other player's deals/offers that probably won't help us anytime soon with winning anything or even getting us out of first round. And you won't have a defined role here anyway... even though you helped a lot in the playoffs when it mattered. I mean, I just really like pretending to develop players, but instead of building chemistry and growing the team like the good teams do... I usually just trade our guys away so they can help other teams out. You know... It's a business, and I really like running the team like a car dealership. J: cya
How so? What do you mean he is smarter than that? Smoove brings a lot to this team. Obviously a lot of posters here don't follow the clippers closely: the reason smith has been relegated to the bench with almost no playing time is because he had an altercation with the coaching staff over his role in the team (aka not allowing him to play his natural game). He's exactly the same player as he was with us last season.
Stay out of this and go back to your Dmo threads. This has not been addressed at you. Smith is gone, and LMA, Horford, Bosh would do much better. It does not have be an allstar, a good, smart PF that stays for years works wonders.
I'm sure much of what happened in the offseason between Morey and Smoove we don't know and we probably never will. So it's all speculation at this point. I'm surprised at some people who make up things and firmly believe in them.
Take back Smoove in a heartbeat. My only real knock on him last year was FT%. Nobody is perfect, but considering all his flaws, he at least needed 60%.. 65% would be really good for him. He's currently 60% this season compared to last year's ~50. Agreed with everything else, just adding, prime rim protection has always been needed. It's a basic fundamental to winning. The only exceptions had some true greatest going on elsewhere on their team.
My pretend transcript is basically using some of what was reported, obviously something else could have been said behind closed doors, and I know Morey obviously wouldn't be that silly to say/think some of those things... But it still sucks to lose a player to the Clippers that would probably work out better than some of the other signings in the off-season. I mean... Think about it, with houston's current PF situation some of us are hoping for an inconsistent Smith to come back, lol
People are still talking about Josh? Let this man rest in peace already ...I mean piece... The piece of the bench he keeps warm at the Clippers stadium ... We offered him MORE money and he chose the Clippers anyway .
This is the point I keep coming back to. I wanted Smith to stay but the point is he wasn't even replaced, and we need another player upfront badly. I still don't understand how Morey came into the season like this. Our top two frontcourt players have injury problems (Dwight and DMO, who we knew wouldn't be available), Capela is only 21 and Jones is inconsistent. Harrell doesn't even count, he's a rookie. Morey is one of the top GMs in the league, but to prioritize signing KJ over dealing with this issue when trying to contend is a TERRIBLE GM move
So in other words, no, you do not tire from being constantly wrong. All I needed to know. Keep it up champ.
Yes, exactly! I think he's a great gm... But this and a few other moves have really hurt... I mean obviously he got H&H but that doesn't mean he can do whatever now, haha. And I'm not saying I can do better like some crazies I've seen, I just want the team to win, and I'm not sure I'm even confident in them getting to wcf this year again. And this has nothing to do with being Fairweather, it's more to do that I've watched the Rockets way too long and know better.
