Zach Randolph I do believe that he had talks for him, but Trail Blazers decided not to send him to a WC team.
people took that quote way too freaking seriously. Just because Morey said having a near all star starting pf would be ideal doesn't mean he was anywhere close to even being in discussions to land one.
Ok. I believe you blieved it. And so ... We couldnt offer anything close to Fry and Francis combo, I mean salary wise too. Plus, do we really want to take badazz Zebo?
Please note that Portland will waive SF. Basically the trade came down to Frye and salary cap. Just to give you an idea: Just to give you an idea: Portland Trade Breakdown Outgoing Zach Randolph 6-9 PF from Michigan State 23.6 ppg, 10.1 rpg, 2.2 apg in 35.7 minutes Incoming Shane Battier 6-8 SF from Duke 10.1 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 2.1 apg in 36.5 minutes Bob Sura 6-5 from Florida State No games yet played in 2006/07 Kirk Snyder 6-6 SG from Nevada-Reno 4.9 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.0 apg in 14.4 minutes Change in team outlook: -8.6 ppg, -3.9 rpg, and +0.9 apg. Houston Trade Breakdown Outgoing Shane Battier 6-8 SF from Duke 10.1 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 2.1 apg in 36.5 minutes Bob Sura 6-5 from Florida State No games yet played in 2006/07 Kirk Snyder 6-6 SG from Nevada-Reno 4.9 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.0 apg in 14.4 minutes Incoming Zach Randolph 6-9 PF from Michigan State 23.6 ppg, 10.1 rpg, 2.2 apg in 35.7 minutes Change in team outlook: +8.6 ppg, +3.9 rpg, and -0.9 apg. Successful Scenario Due to Portland and Houston being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Portland and Houston had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Your stupid to believe that. Managment would not come close to taking on that kind of contract. And we do not even have the salarys to make it match. Back to rookie status for you.
Portland does not want guys like Battier they are going young and without him contacts will not work.
He did, and Zach fits that description. I thought of him when I read the quote, plus he was the most gettable guy, but who knows if we'll ever know. I'm more or less glad to not have him though. I'm starting to worry about character on this team with Bonzi and James back. One or two knuckleheads might be manageable, but you don't want them to reach a critical mass.
Mr. Coffee, I agree with you 100%. I think even though in paper would have been very nice, the team would have reached that critical mass that you are talking specially with Bonzi. Z bo is a black whole, and we do not want that.
Agreed. There is only room for one more knuckle head w/o reaching critical mass. That knuckle head is RON ARTEST.
We have a temporary solution: James Singleton was just released by the Clippers, and so was Daniel Ewing. Singleton is now basically free for us considering before it was rumored to cost us JL3. I hope we bring in Ewing for a shot on our team. He is a local guy and might play his way onto the team.
HELL NO. I would have been happy to deal Lucas for ANYBODY. They are not signing any more pgs unless it is Francis. They do not need another mediocre player like Ewing
