I hope Bimathug will have a look at this.He put up a thread how to get free agents by using the TE in a sign and trade.I didn't realize that Dooling was not a free agent, thanks for correcting me.
Betterthanever, I appreciate the correction. What I'm trying to say is basically Evans makes 2m per. We talk about getting value players, but Evans was a huge value more so than someone like Barry. Why? He can finish, strong, knock down the 3, defends and backup the 2 and 3, and he younger and more durable. That would have been a cheap, quality pickup. He couldve paved the way for you to trade head, francis, and even battier if the right deal came along.
Evans is better in every way except for 3 point shooting and passing than Barry. I don't think Barry can be an effective passer for long stretches at a time anyway. He would have been a better fit than Brent IMO too,but our hands are tied because of the Landry situation. Edit: Are there any players worth going after through the use of the TE right now that you can think of?
We used the Bi-annual exception on Jon Barry. I would have preferred using the Bi-annual exception on Evans instead of Jon Barry also. With the Rocket's medical staff history, Jon Barry may join our annual PG injury club. Bob Sura was a past member. Steve Francis was a member, last year. Jon Barry will be next? Money down the tubes, unless we steal the pros fixing up Steve Nash and Stoudemire.
You mean Brent. Mo Evans did get a deal beyond the LLE from GS so maybe it would have been difficult to get it done. Do you feel that there is anyone that could be obtained using the TE that could be helpful without going over the LT?
BTW, how big is our trade exception and when did we receive it? Thanks. If Bimathug hasn't found the collective bargaining agreement, it's located on the NBA player's union website. http://www.nbpa.com/cba_articles.php
Yeah I mean Brent. Thanks. It depends on how big our TE is. I haven't read bimathug's thread yet. It's a monster of a post.
no, i just use this site to look up TEs: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/trademachine and this site for team salaries: http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-player-salaries/
It said TE from Bonzi Wells 2.2 M,Kirk Snyder 917,000 dollars. Does that mean a total of around 3.1 M? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
There are plenty of guys to get with the te. The rox are really doing the team a disservice by being reactive instead of proactive. Offer Landry 2m per for 3 yrs, he signs it and you move forward. If he rejects it, u look at NJ and josh boone who makes 1.2m. U get him and the team still has 1.1 te, plus they let landry and deke walk clearing up 2 roster spots and still holding the 5.8 mle. Its all about making it happen instead of saying what u can't do.
i hear good arguments being made for both cases on morey, but i have one question... so was there any truth to the report that we didnt trade for artest bc we refused to throw in brooks?? if that was the case, then i really gotta count that as a HUGE mistake against morey
I thought it was a rumor, but I don't know. Look at it this way. Sure, Artest is a far, far better NBA player. But do you give up a valued prospect for a player you'll only have for half a season? That seems extremely short-sighted.
