Morey on Golden State: We feel like we have closed the gap

so you believe he meant that we are closer versus closed the gap.

What would you say to me if I said this exact thing:

"Rockets felt like they needed to close that gap. I feel like they have closed that gap. I really feel like this is a group that can compete with GSW." -- heypartner​

He framed the word, used it in a sentence again to reconfirm, then used a synonym of "can compete with them" as closing comment.

Had I said that, I'd want your take-away to be that I feel like we have closed the gap and are ready to compete on equal level. But, had 'holic said that, I can see how he can semantically wiggle out of that to mean anything on a spectrum to "I only meant closer, smdh people" if we get summarily dismissed again, to "I told all you idiots that we were on the same level." If we take them to 7 or win.

 

The gap in Daryl Morey's mouth is not closed. It's getting bigger. SMH. Get back to work, and shut up DM!

 

Don't underestimate how much clutchfans love to play the victim. We are always hopeless victims at the mercy or morey, les, harden or.....

Saying the gap is closed now is like David Robinson saying in 1995 that he's not afraid of Hakeem because he was just given the MVP trophy on his home court.

No one has closed the gap and it's doubtful no one will. If you want to attract free agents (and more importantly, sell tickets) you say **** like this. I doubt he actually believes 3/4ths of what everyone here freaks out about.

You don't say that and then proceed to lose 8 of the next 9 games to the Warriors. Rest assured Warriors used that as motivation if they needed further

 

Agreed! It's common sense that running amounts to more fatigue thus should decrease overall minutes of starters and give more players those minutes. MDA has never gone with common sense so we have just to wait it out until he leaves

 

Are they? I just want a GM who is modest, avoids attention and would refrain of making comments like these in reference to a team who's miles ahead of the rest of the league..

 

This is the part I really came to dislike about the GM....he speaks his mind freely and does not care.

And he seems to be cocky without having been to the Finals once.

 

The Rockets are obviously much better than this past seasons team adding one of the best playmakers in Chris Paul to a team with an incredible playmaker in Harden as well as Paul being one of the top defenders in the game. The efficiency with Paul quarterbacking the offense should go through the roof and adding Tuckers defense should help but they are a few more pieces away for sure in overtaking the Warriors IMO and they absolutely need to improve defensively like MDA said after the Game 6 loss to Spurs.

I feel like these comments by Morey are similar to the ones made by Paul Pierce and Doc Rivers last year.
