I just don't see how Toronto dumping Hedo would be worthwhile for them as far as what they get back for Bosh. We would significantly reduce our offer of the young chips we have with the picks, Hill, and Budinger ... which is usually the essence of a sign and trade (getting picks/young chips in return). A salary dump in a S&T would be the first of it's kind, unless I'm forgetting something. Like I said, unless Bosh decides he would be happy in 3 or more places, and at least one of those is willing to take on Hedo, the deal will only be for Bosh.
If Bosh were to come to Houston then it would be because Bosh told Colangelo Jr to make it happen. At that point, if it should occur, the demands are less demanding. Not cheap, not easy but also not over the top. I could see SB + DA + JH + Lotto + Knix '12 for CB4, and I believe that's affordable. If Hedo is a 'must' then TA + CH and delete either the Lotto or Knix '12...all in my studied and humble opinion. Of course.
if the raps traded bosh at the deadline they could insist on turkey being included. in a S&T, bosh and his agent call all the shots. if they tell the raps to send bosh to houston without touching players x, y, and z, or he will just leave for new york without getting the raps anything in return... then you better believe the raps will be happy enough with ending contracts and jordan hill. the focus should not be "how can the rockets appease the raptors?" in a trade scenario, it should be "how can the rockets convince bosh to sign here?" if he wants to sign here then the raps have to take whatever equals his contract. they can't really demand the rockets take on anything or bosh might just sign with another team and leave them with nothing.
I got it from the Poster I was responding to. It could still happen but Scola sign and traded for >$8 mil or Martin would get tit done.
Those are exactly the 2 players included in a package for Amare. If Bosh is better than Amare, then we do it. With Bosh/Hill/Hayes/our picks, scola is expendable(also due to his age and the expected 8-10 milion salary). Ariza performed much better with Martin in the lineup and is younger than Battier(Battier got his advantage too but they are close overall), so Battier is expendable as well. But Rap may not be interested in veterans like them, so a third team is bound to be involved.
Morey seems to be hyping up this off-season like no other. I really hopes he comes through this off-season or there will be some disgruntled Rockets Fans!
I wonder if they're going to move up a couple of spots to land Greg Monroe... the guy seems tailor made for this team; a guy who can play both PF/C, with a great BB IQ, and great court vision with passing ability of a guard... --RB
I partially agree with you, but the Raptors would call his bluff on going to NY in my opinion. From all accounts, Bosh is pretty picky about where he wants to play, and unless NY gets Lebron I have a hard time being convinced that he would actually sign there. There aren't any contenders with cap room that Bosh can use as leverage. Toronto has more leverage than a typical S&T team, because he seemingly doesn't want to go to any of the teams with cap room. But that doesn't mean that the teams he is willing to go to will agree to take on Hedo or Calderon. As long as no teams are willing to do that, the Raptors don't have any leverage from that standpoint. I'm sure they will stall and throw out all kinds of rumors including Hedo to scare teams into taking him, but at the end of the day as long as everyone laughs in their face when Hedo comes up and nobody gets serious about taking him, the Raptors are going to have to be happy just getting picks/young players/expiring contracts for him.
salary has to be matched when rox don't have cap space. please calculate before making the list. getting bosh by himself requires alot over 17 mil. adding hedo needs another almost 10 mil. i can see at least 28 mil involved. please come up a list of rox players whose salaries can be added up to around 27 mil.
I wonder who we'd spend the MLE on. Most of the free agents are worth more than that. Heck, Portland took Camby off the market at 10 mil/yr.
there are a few teams. bulls and heats. they have at least same chance as we have if not better (i think they have better opportunaty than us). heats could be very attrative if wade stays and riley back to coach.
I think for trade purposes a team over the cap can take on up to 125% of what they dump. So if we were to get Bosh+Hedo at 27 mil we'd have to give up about 22 mil. Personally I don't at all like the idea of bringing on Hedo. I'd rather Calderon if we HAVE to take on one of their crappy pieces.
He can always use the I'm headed down Miami to play with D Wade and make them back into contenders, even though he's said he does not want to play sidekick to anyone he could use it as a negotiation tool. As stated before tho, we absolutely have to get Bosh to thinking all about Houston along with the Benjamins.
Morey might be talking about simply taking on Bosh's salary... or maybe taking on salary of a player in another deal. Don't think it's some albatross like Hedo-- maybe someone like Jarett Jack, whose contract is more modest and he's friends with Bosh. I don't think Bosh particularly wants to hang with Hedo for 4 more years.
So let me ask the question, if getting bosh meant taking calderon and giving up brooks, shane, jeffries, anderson, chase, and hill, is it really worth it? If yao is limited to 25 minutes a night, would the lineup of bosh, yao, ariza, calderon, and martin be considered contenders?
Has anyone proposed that deal? Even the Raptors fans haven't proposed anything that ridiculous in their favor.
