BEST PART of the interview. Couldn't believe he was that candid. Darryl's ass is in the fire!

    That interview rocked.

And I can BARELY get 1560 here at work, it's all static, I'm forced to listen to Blowhard Rich Lord and Petulant Punk Josh Innes. Wonder what it's done for my overall health.

    this is the money quote:

Translation: we are stockpiling assets to get a star without regard to chemistry or depth at a particular position. This means we will suck short term. But the alternative (sacrificing talent for depth and ending up with a balanced team that can't contend) is worse.

If this is referring to really young players who have star potential like Cousins/Favors/et. al. I am all for it.

However, if he talking about players who have been in the league for a few years and have not met expectations (for example like some of the players mentioned on this board as in Gay, Randolph, Jefferson, etc). I would be completely against it.

    Curious morey Q&A response:

    How is Courtney Lee?

Been solid. We knew what we had when we traded for him. Set up players around Yao and though he fit well but think he also fits well in the future. We knew what we were getting with him.

It seems like Morey views Lee are part of our future. Obviously he has to be diplomatic, but I get the sense that Morey wants to move forward with C.Lee rather than trade him. Am i reading too much into this? perhaps the trade deadline crazieness has finally poisoned my mind.

I think Morey views every player on the team as "part of our future."

Yep. Morey's been hot for Courtney Lee since his days at Western Kentucky. In 2008, the Rockets almost moved up in the draft to try to get him. They were hoping that he'd fall to #25, but Orlando grabbed him at #22, I believe.

I think Morey wants to keep Lee and would trade Bud or even T-Will first. Unfortunately, other teams know how good Lee is. I imagine that Courtney might be the singlemost attractive trade asset the Rockets have, factoring in skill AND salary.

Having Lee on the roster is the ONLY reason I think Kevin Martin is remotely available to be traded by Morey.

I always liked Lance's takes on the Rockets. I would prefer getting the weekly Morey interview from him, rather than the 610 guys.

3 weeks ago this guy that works for the Rockets told me Morey wasn't going to make any significant moves and the team will pretty much stay the same. I don't want to believe that but for some reason i'm leaning towards that way of thinking.

That's why I created the thread, John and Lance ask the best questions. They have a better understanding of the game.
