He can play SF. The Spurs are gonna be amazing if they sign him and they stay healthy. He's the type of player they need, minus the whole not playing defense part of him :p

Anywhere but San Antonio, CM!!!

No, if Corey sign with us, he is going to be a backup for sure. Having Scola/Battier/Tmac is much more balanced than Battier/Corey/Tmac or Scola/Corey/Tmac..

No way Maggette will accept ML. It may be a S&T?

If Magette signed here, I would bet money they trade Battier to Chicago for Hinrich....it would have a ripple effect....

    Imagine.

    Hinrich
    Maggette
    Tmac
    Scola
    Yao

Now THAT is an incredible starting lineup.

If we cant get Maggette then we should trade for Artest. No way that we enter the season without our third scorer in the strong conference.

His defense is not good. Pop will let Bowen and Udoka play SF most of time.

The lineup you proposed has a blackhole in Maggette on the defense end and we have no one can guard other teams' top scorers..

By watching how Celtics used defense to win their Championship, Morey is not going to make such move, especially with Tmac's chronical back problem...

Let's compare the Celtics championship starters to the lineup I suggested.

Hinrich vs Rondo - Edge Hinrich - both good defenders
Maggette vs Allen - Edge Maggette and his free throws, both sorry defenders
Tmac vs Pierce - Even - both decent defenders when motivated
Scola vs Garnett - Huge Edge to Garnett on both ends...
Yao vs Perkins - Huge Edge to Yao on both ends.

It is not about individual defense but team defense....that Rockets team I posted above would be gunning for 60+ wins....even in the tough Western Conference.

Chronical? Interesting...Anyway, if you think that lineup isn't something spectacular then you're crazy. That would be the best starting 5 in all of basketball, IMO. I know we would probably be giving up something on the defensive end (no doubt if the trade for Hinrich ends up being something revolving around Battier), but I think you could be willing to take that chance if the starting 5 looked like that. Now, is it plausible? Probably not. I don't even think the first step falls in place, being Maggette signing with Houston. Weirder things have happened though...

The Rocket simple cannot offer the "full" MLE to anyone. They are in a "situation" with Laundry and its not going away until he gets an offer. Morey would become a liar if he offers away the only way to keep CL.

I don't even think Maggette is that "perfect" fit for the Rockets. He doesn't have the range to be an outside threat. If teams double Yao and he kicks it to Maggette, what happens? Well, he's a great driver so he drives, but Yao has drawn double team so the interior is packed. I don't care how good you are but no one outside of MJ (the original) can go 1 on 3 and be effective. Is Maggette going to shoot the jumper and be effective? Not really his game.

Now, if Yao is out and Maggette is the 2nd team then he's the man. But if that's the case, why would he want to come to Houston?

All this is besides the point. DM will not blow the whole thing on 1 guy, not his style. Also not going to give away an asset - CL, if he can help it.

I think if the Rockets do splash, it will be a massive trade to clear the logjam of players. So, it's looking more like a trade deadline deal for next season.

    In Morey We Trust

Morey cockblocked SanAntonio this year in the draft, he can do it again in free agency. No wouldn't that be sweet. Sticking it to em twice within a couple of weeks. Not to mention the grand larceny for Scola.

Totally disagree on the backcourt. Allen is a decent defender and a better player.

I would rather have Rondo than Hinrich. No way Hinrich could defend him

I had to try really hard not to use the word for taking sex by force in my last post. The word is tasteless and callous, however fitting.

FYI Maggette shot .384 from behind the arc last year...

I live in LA, so I have watched a lot of games from Corey. He is nowhere a "team player" nor has the willingness to play team defense.

Plus, winning 60+ wins mean nothing if we can't get out the first round..

That is a good 3 point percentage. Better than Shane's

I was trying to show people that he isn't a bad 3 point shooter

The bottomline for me with this guy is that he would be the third scorer that we so desperately need. He can drive, he can hit the mid-range, he can hit it from deep. Last time I checked, he fit the bill for what the Rockets so desperately need.
