Morey needs to be on the hot seat as well

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm in no way defending McHale. No doubt they can do almost anything. But ability can't be confused with willingness. Dwight stated repeatedly that he wanted to be a post player and had no interest in being a roll guy even though he was the best roll guy in the league. D'Antoni was joking that he had no clue why Dwight would want to go to Houston when we ran "pretty much the same stuff" that the Lakers did. Indeed, Dwight was expressly promised that the offense would be tailored to incorporate what he wanted even though the numbers were clear that he was horrible in the post and amazing at the PnR.

So sure, McHale deserves a lot of the blame for not making it work. But Morey is also culpable for always going after the "best player available" and assuming that the coach would find a way to retool the offense so that everyone fit in and was happy.

Morey should be on the hot seat? What a ridiculous statement. GTFO. That is all.

Have some freaking patience. We used all our cap space to get Dwight this year. Miami didn't even win it all when they had Lebron, Wade and Bosh the first year because they had no money to sign role players.

It is crazy to me that people underestimate how great of a GM we have. It's not like we have Rick Smith.

For each bad move Morey has made you can count 5 great moves.

It is absolutely insane to me to see people acting like everything is sunshine and rainbows in the front office after what we just witnessed.

They went to the finals. We're staring at another first round exit. Last year we took two games against the Thunder, and now we might get swept by the Blazers? This team is regressing, people, even with the Howard signing. That is alarming and no one should be safe.

But what exactly is the GM's job? To bring in talent to the franchise and make the franchise look attractive.

Thats exactly what Daryl has done. He has brought in talent - not just any talent but all-star/all-nba type talent

Its the coach's job to maximize that talent to the best of the coach's ability. Right now with the team - talent is not the issue - the Rockets are the more talented team on the floor -- coaching is the issue.

Daryl has hired two coaches - Adelman (who is a HOF type coach) and McHale. If McHale loses this series than I would expect Morey to find a coach that would be better suited to maximize the talent on the team.

Right now I believe McHale's contract ends after this season so the Rockets may choose not to re-sign him and bring in someone else.

It would have been great to bring in either of the Van Gundy brothers

Exactly. I knew this subject would not go over well on this board but this team has a very real chance of doing worse in this year's playoffs than last year's 8th seeded team going back to Portland. I truly believe Houston fans have become use to disappointments and making excuses.

Morey only on hot seat if he is super-loyal to McHale and insists on keeping him (this is assuming we lose).

Miami went to the Finals the first year they had their Big Three. They were within 2 wins of a title. The Rockets went out and signed Dwight Howard and will by lucky to match last year's team's playoff achievement of winning 2 games in the first round.

If the Rockets lose in 4 or 5 games, this is the worst result imaginable. It's not only a wasted season, but also a step backwards.

Nice rant, but it doesn't mean anything. Morey apparently let Adelman walk because he wanted more control over coaching decisions like player rotations, assistant coaches (definitely overstepping boundaries). So what does he do next? He hires Kevin Mchale. A "face"of the organization that was unqualified to begin with but got the job based off his name. Any credible nba coach is not gonna let the GM make coaching decisions for him. So now that this Moreyball philosophy has failed us in the postseason, its only right Les puts Morey's butt on the hotseat right along with the unqualified coach he hired. Analyst were already skeptical that Moreyball would work in the playoffs. We're just seeing it for ourselves every playoff game we play

Without Morey Houston doesn't sniff the playoffs for the next ten or so years. James Harden is not here, and neither is Dwight.

Why are people acting like we're getting run off the floor by an 8 seed?

As good as LMA has been he can't keep up this 2011 Dirk type performance going.

If the Rockets played in the east it wouldn't surprise me to see us in the finals either. Who did they even have to play to get there?

Give the man a break. He turned a team full of roll players into Harden and Dwight and people keep complaining.

He got Parsons and Beverley out of no where. What more do you want the man to do.

If Lamarcus Aldridge is gonna shoot 60% on Fadeaway baseline jumpers and knock down fadeaway three pointers. I don't care who the Blazers play they will win the championship.

Rofl at parsons and Bev out of nowhere. Are you aware of how long he's been our gm and the amount of player turnover he's gone thru? Not to mention the talent he's given away because he didn't know he had it? And parsons doesn't belong on the list.. Stat padder for reg season not a quality baller.

Firing Morey would be stupid, but McHale was his guy, right? And he didn't have a crystal ball when handing out the balloon contracts to Lin and Asik. Still, McHale was his guy. How much input did Les have in that decision?

lol by putting together a roster with two all-nba caliber players. how many other teams can say that in the league? Miami, Indiana, LAC, OKC? By putting together a roster with said all-nba caliber players and a litany of picks over the next few years, which are one of the most coveted assets in the modern NBA. by making sound picks way more often than not, regardless of where the team is drafting. By never decisively 'losing' a trade in his tenure here save for one or two moves?
