I truly believe this can work out. Imagine Asik and Howard playing starters together, the opponents would have long nightmare each and every game. I love Asik, he was great last year and he helped Rockets a lot in many ways. Adding Howard will make Asik's job lot easier.

    Lets go Rockets!

The stretch 4 philosophy failed. Abort that Morey.

Naw I think Asik will be traded to New Orleans for Anderson as soon as the season starts, they couldn't replace Robin Lopez and Anthony davis isn't really a center.

    You can bet on dat.

lol...and you think Morey would trade a excellent center to a team within the same division...

If the Hornets admit Asik is worth more than Anderson and give up enough additional "assets", I think Morey would make that trade.

We'll just to agree to disagree for now. I'm not against trading Asik. Want to make that clear. I am against trading Asik for less than fair value. I'm sorry...Ryan Anderson is not fair value. If we're gonna trade Asik, it needs to be in concert with one or more other players to bring in a better player. So as far as I'm concerned unless Asik is a part of a package that brings us back Love or Melo or Lebron or Bosh (EDIT: In other words..a better player) ...then I don't think we should deal..I think we should hold our hand and get value out of it on the floor.

Getting back against the opponent's fast break?????? You're kidding, right? If the opponent is running the break against our O with those 2 in the game it's because our guys missed a bunny break on the other end and Dwight and Omer are still back in the defensive backcourt waiting for more. Like I said..the whole idea of us coming down and setting up half-court plays with Dwight and Omer is very short-sighted. We're going to be creating transition O out of all the defensive stops they are giving us.

Your value of Asik is delusional. Love, Melo, LeBron or Bosh? It's common for fans to overvalue their team's players, but this is an extremist homer point of view. He's worth more than Ryan Anderson but don't be ridiculous. When Morey makes a trade, you might be very disappointed. Of course, if he pulls off another miracle and gets Love, Melo, LeBron or Bosh, I'll celebrate with everyone else.

They're trying to keep Asik happy as long as possible. Asik/Howard is terrible for both of them, and terrible for our other two excellent players Jeremy Lin and James Harden.

They will go through the motions and test it out in training camp. Maybe even a couple of games. It will quickly disappear, if Asik is even around that long. I predict the line up fails miserably. I hope they don't even bother wasting game time on it. If they do try it, I really really hope I'm wrong.

Using that logic, Dream wasn't a good passer either. He had more TOs than assists in nearly every year of his career, TOs come with handling the ball a lot. In addition, Dwight has never had better than an average supporting cast, certainly nobody as good as his current team with the possible exception of the Lakers last year, with whom he didn't mesh well in D'Antoni's system.

I think playing them both will be an interesting experiment in the preseason.

Obviously Asik would never be traded for any of those guys straight up, but might be good enough to package with others for someone with better value than Ryan Anderson. I would hold on to him at least until at least the trade deadline if I were Morey and that was the level of offer I was getting. See what they can do on the court together or as one of the best center tandems in the league rather than accept a substandard deal just because they have similar strengths.

Here is what it comes down to worst case:

Dwasik doesn't work and the entire NBA knows it. When the trade deadline approaches, Morey can either accept a "substandard" deal or take what he can get. Next summer, Asik's balloon payment kicks in and he will be a one-year, reduced-value asset (compared to now or at the trade deadline). Morey will be in the weakest possible position to deal him.

Time isn't on the Rockets side. My hope is Morey made the "McHale will experiment..." statement in order to pump Asik's preseason trade value and telegraph to teams the Rockets aren't desperate. Best case is a deal is done before the Dwasik notion gets exposed for what it is.

If the Rockets want to seriously contend for a championship this season, they HAVE to make a move to shore up their weakness at PF and Asik will be involved. If they just want to win a first-round series, then keep Asik and waste him behind Dwight.

This is going to be interesting. I think Asik will work for half of the teams except maybe Miami. It will all depend on Dwight's and Asia's IQ

Have you seen both Dream and Dwight play? First of all, Dream was much more skilled and aggressive with the ball. He could actually dribble, crossover, spin, fake and go around people. He was much more creative than Dwight could ever be and took a lot of risks with the ball. Elite one-on-one scorers do this. This is why their TOs are similar. Dwight turns the ball over doing simple stuff. There really isn't much comparison.

By clear observation Dream was also a better passer than Dwight. Can you argue otherwise? He and OT actually developed good chemistry over the years. Unfortunately, the Rockets don't have several years for Dwasik to figure things out.

If it gets that far, it will indeed be an interesting experiment to observe in the preseason. Hopefully it's just chatter by Morey and a trade happens.

    What is harder to get?
-A stud 7 foot center who is a rebounding machine and a legit defensive player of the year candidate
    or
    - a 6'10" player that averages 3PT% of .384 and FG% of .426?

Did Morey pump up PPat's value before the trade? Morris'? Lowry's?

Do you know why people keep quoting your posts? You are blinded by all the negatives that you can't see the positives.

Not Morey, not McHale, nor anyone in Rockets organization can be certain that they will not work. While you, on the other hand, already shut down the idea in your mind.

So what if they don't mesh well and our offense doesn't flow smoothly for 10-12 min/game, which to me isn't as important. They can compensate their flaws with extra rebounds and completely shutting down the paint on D. Or would you rather have GSmith or aging Camby anchors our defense for 16-18 min!? Do you not see the importance of having two of the top 5 defensive and rebounding bigs for 48 min/game? Fans might overvalue their players but you seriously take our biggest advantage and luxury for granted.

Exactly a year ago, people laughed at the idea of Moreyball. Look at the league now. If we are to make deep runs or even winning the Finals with two of the best defensive bigs, don't be surprised it becomes the trend or blueprint on how to built a championship team.
