Yes, I am all for that. But I suspect Milwaukee is holding out that they can attach him to a deal for Redd, Mo Williams, or Charlie Bell. I'd take him and Charlie Bell for expirings if nothing else materializes.

The only area of the court that Battier shoots better is the corner 3.

Artest is better from just about everywhere else on the court. He can also create his own shot and is a legit 3rd scorer.

Artest is a better defender, too, especially when it comes to man-to-man defense. He has better lateral quickness, meaning he could do an even better job at covering opposing teams' perimeter players.

In general, Artest is a far superior athlete than Battier.

The only area where Battier owns Artest is attitude. Battier has as good of an attitude as you'll find in this league and he always puts the team above himself.

Artest is pretty much the opposite. He is an unstable character who forgets about his teammates at times.

Overall, Artest is a far more talented player while Battier is a much better team player.

There would be gains and losses if we were somehow able to swap Battier for Artest. The question is whether the gains outweigh the losses, or vice versa.

I liked him coming out of UConn. Dude is flat out ugly though. Reminds me of Michael Berryman with a tan. For those who dont know who Berryman is he is the ugly bald dude that played a mutant biker on weird science.

Rodman inevitably self destructs (and takes his team with him) when the pressure is on. Good luck to any team that thinks Rodman is a path to a championship.

    Sincerely,
    Chicago Bulls

    Artest is not opting out.

He emailed some news station in Sac-Town that he's going to play out his contract.

It baffles me how some people in life take absolutely no risks and expect greatness.

As expected. His play worth more than his contract, and he'll have a better chance to make money next offseason on the market. However, if he does another 100-degree turn before the trade deadline, he could be moved to help a playoff-bound team.

Artest is not opting out. The Link here

BTW, this is GREAT news for us, for these reasons:
    1. If he had opted out and willing to go MLE, he would most likely join the Lakers
    2. If he stays in Sacto, it doesn't mean he stays, it just means Sacto has his right and he becomes Sacto's asset for ... trade.
    3. Sacto is in rebuilding mode (well, they are still on the fence, but they really don't have a choice NOT to rebuild), so they are more likely to trade with those teams who have solid young players or draft choices.
    4. Now, Rox has good set of young assets that fit those criteria, including the 3 just from this draft: the 2 draftees, and an early second rounder; plus Head, Landry, Harris, Houston's own draft picks for 2009, and trade exceptions.

Even if Houston doesn't get Artest, it is unlikely Lakers can make the trade work with Sacto. Lakers' main young asset is Bynum, who is untouchable. Their other tradeable assets are not that young or good enough (Vujacic and Farmar), and Lakers have no 1st round draft pick this time (traded to Memphis).

In short, this is all around great news for Rox!

I guess he did mean 100 degrees when he said 100 degrees...

stupid reporters making r****ded assumptions...adding an extra 160 degrees to make it 360 degrees when artest said clearly 100 degrees...

Do you have a link? We are not going to get them, but it's still interesting to know about it. I expect Baron to re-sign with his team. Brand has stuck around with LAC but if he has opted out,I feel he might want to go to a better team even if he doesn't get as much money. I'm not implying that Brand is looking to sign for the MLE.

actually the no. of degrees added doesnt matter...nothing changes whether they add 160 degrees or 260 degrees or 560 degrees.

the point was they were adding random degrees to his statement.

that and sleeping from 5.30am to 7.30am before an exam does not help either......
